2 drug peddlers arrested in Sopore

SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Police today arrested two alleged drug peddlers and recovered contraband from their possession during a naka checking in the Watlab area of Sopore in north Kashmir's Baramulla district.

A Police spokesperson said police intercepted two suspicious persons at Sangri Top, Watlab, during checking and recovered the contraband during their personal search.

The accused were identified as Asif Ahmad Mir, son of Sanaullah Mir, of Sangri Watlab, and Shahbaz Ahmad Lone, son of Ghulam Nabi Lone, of Watlab, Sopore, the spokesperson said. "Police have apprehended two drug peddlers as part of the sustained drive against the drug menace," the spokesperson said.

A case has been registered at Police Station Sopore under FIR No. 215/2026 under relevant sections of law, and an investigation has been launched to determine the source of the contraband and identify any wider linkages, he added.
