2-day workshop on ‘Mobilization Challenges in Himayat’ begins

JAMMU, Nov 13: A two-day workshop on “Mobilization Challenges in Himayat (DDU-GKY): Towards Strategies and Solutions” began today at Panchayat Bhawan, Jammu.
The Workshop is being organized by Himayat Mission Management Unit (HMMU), Jammu and Kashmir State Rural Livelihood Mission (JKSRLM) in collaboration with National Institute of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (NIRD&PR), Hyderabad.
Himayat is Skill Development-cum-Placement programme for unemployed youth targeted at school and college drop-outs. The focus is on placements of youth in a befitting manner commensurate with the level of education and their aspirations. Under the umbrella of DDU-GKY, Union Ministry of Rural Development, HMMU has been entrusted with an ambitious mission of training and placing over 1.24 lakh candidates from across the State through the Project Implementing Agencies (PIAs).
During the two-day workshop, PIAs shall be given an orientation on approaches to be adopted and processes involved in smooth identification of the deserving candidates for skill training.
The Workshop experienced gathering of over 100 representatives from various Project Implementing Agencies working within and outside the State, representatives of NABCONS & NIRD & PR.
Sheetal Nanda, Secretary to Government, RDD & PR, J&K while addressing the participants shared the vision and mission of the Government for the skill development. The Secretary asked the PIAs to come forward and share their national responsibility of helping the youth of the State to hone their skills.
Terming youth as an asset for the State, Nanda asked the participants to deliberate how the positive energies in them could be channelized and how their aspirations could be met. Further, she stressed on expediting the mobilization activities so that the youth of the State shall be benefited well in time.
Kapil Sharma, Chief Operating Officer, HMMU, JKSRLM in his address, highlighted the progress of Himayat and purpose of two-day workshop. Among the resource persons, Gyathri Kalia, former Chief Operating officer, DDU-GKY, MoRD, GoI delivered the session on Mobilization strategies and approaches during the programme.
Shankar Dutt, Director (Monitoring and Evaluation), NIRD&PR, Hyderabad briefed the participants about the significance of Mobilization and processes involved in it.
