2-day National Conference in Mathematics begins

JAMMU, Feb 18: The Department of Mathematics, Government Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu, in collaboration with National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM), DAE, Mumbai, is organizing the third annual two- day “National Conference in Mathematics”, from today.
Sarita Chauhan, Commissioner/ Secretary Higher Education Department, was the chief guest in the inaugural function wherein Prof (Dr) R K Singh,  Professor Emeritus Department of Mathematics Lucknow University, Prof (Dr) T A Kawoos,  Director Colleges Higher Education Department, Prof (Dr) Ajeet Angral, Nodal Principal Government Gandhi Memorial Science College Jammu and the organising secretary of the conference, Dr Sunil Gupta were also present.
In her address to the audience, chief guest advised the teaching fraternity to motivate and encourage the students to take maximum benefit out of such activities. Such teaching-learning programmes, do indeed, not only benefit the students at large, but also the teaching fraternity gets an opportunity to update and enrich their subject knowledge through direct interaction with eminent academic personalities and scholars about their research and innovation, she aded.
Key note address was read by Prof (Dr) R K Singh. He spoke about the need and importance of holding such events in an institution of higher learning.
Earlier, Nodal Principal, Prof (Dr) Ajeet Angral, said that with a change in national scenario about higher education, when greater emphasis is being laid on research and, innovations, skill development and technology, this institution has also stepped in towards this direction to maintain the characteristics of an institution of excellence.
The organizing secretary of the conference, Dr Sunil Gupta, threw light on the importance and objective of this mathematical conference.
The inaugural session ended with vote of thanks read by faculty member Dr. Narinder Sharma.
