2 cops, civilian injured in clash

MENDHAR, Apr 27: Two policemen and a civilian were injured after they were attacked by some people when they had gone to Salwah village of Mendhar in Poonch district to arrest some people this evening.
Official sources said that a police team from Mendhar Police Station went to Salwah village to arrest a man wanted in a case of NDPS Act, which was registered after poppy straw cultivation was destroyed from a field few days back.
Sources added that some villagers from the area entered into heated arguments with policemen which led to a scuffle in which two policemen identified as Yaseen Ahmed and Mumtaz Ahmed got injured.
A civilian identified as Waseem Ahmed of Salwah also got injured in the incident. Both the cops have been hospitalized and are under treatment while police have registered a case FIR No. 56/ 2019 against the eight accused persons at Mendhar Police Station.
