JAMMU, Feb 19: Two books of Dogri for children, written by Gianeshwar Sharma, titled  ‘Ik Ha Chida Te Ik Hi Chidi’ and ‘Pari, Titli Te Gulab’, were released today by Jammu University Vice-Chancellor Prof  M P S Ishar,  here today, during a function jointly organized by World Wide Fund (WWF) J&K and Dogri Sanstha Jammu.
Both these colourful and tastefully designed books contain children stories, inspiring them to preserve and respect environment and love animals and wildlife.
Prof Ishar appreciated the efforts of Gianeshwar Sharma, World Wild Fund, J&K and Dogri Sanstha, for creating awareness about the importance of preservation of environment on one hand and popularizing Dogri language among children on the other. These are important issues and addressing them is the need of the hour, he said and   hoped that this endeavor would l bear desirable fruit.
Dr C M Seth, Chairman, WWF (J&K), informed the audience that the association of WWF with Dogri Sanstha was aimed to make public in general and children in particular, aware of the importance of environment and wildlife, through Dogri.
Prof Lalit Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, expressed his happiness over the sudden spurt in publication of books for children in Dogri.  Though the writers are fulfilling their responsibility of writing for children but the Government of Jammu & Kashmir is failing in its duties and responsibility of introducing Dogri at the primary and middle level of school education, he lamented.
The Book-Release program was followed by a poetic symposium in which prominent Dogri poets read their poems in Dogri.  Those who participated in poetry reading includes Usha Kiran,  Gianeshwar Sharma,  Susheel Begana, Chhattrapal,  Nirmal Vinod , Rattan Doshi, Inderjit Kesar, Bansi Lal, Randhir Raipurai,  Puran Chand Bargotra, Mangal Dass Dogra and  Brij Mohan and Om Vidyarthi.
