KISHTWAR, June 22: Eighteen passengers were injured when the mini-bus they were travelling in skidded off the road and turned turtle near Phagumarh area on Kishtwar-Doda-Jammu highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK06-2697 was on its way from Kandani towards Kishtwar when the driver failed to negotiate a sharp curve and the vehicle turned turtle near Phagumarh area Kishtwar-Doda-Jammu highway here, resulting into injuries to 18 passengers.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and with the help of locals shifted the injured persons to District Hospital, where they were undergoing treatment, when last reports came in.
The injured have been identified as Nitu, son of Beli Ram and Anu, daughter of Mukesh Kumar, both residents of Kuntwara, Mukesh, son of Jagdish Raj, Usha Devi, wife of Mukesh Kumar, Akshra, daughter of Mukesh Kumar, Zakir Hussain, son of Nabi Baksh, Shasista Bano, daughter of Farooq Ahmed, Farooq Ahmed, son of Yaqoob, Sajjad, son of Mohammad Yousuf, Fatima Begum, wife of Mohammad Yousuf, Alladita, son of Sobu Gujjar and Akhter Hussain, son of Alladita, all residents of Phagumarh, Vipan Kumar, son of Babi Chand and Mohammad Saleem, son of Maya Gujjar, both residents of Chanderbani, Rajesh Kumar, son of Mukesh Kumar and Krishan Lal, son of Lassu Ram, both residents of Sarthal, Des Raj, son of Mangat Ram of Trigam and Bashir Ahmed, son of Qutab Din of Doda.
A case under relevant sections has been registered at Kishtwar Police Station and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar, Angrez Singh Rana accompanied with Secretary Red Cross Society Kishtwar, Asgar Ali Sheikh visited District Hospital Kishtwar and enquired about the health conditions of injured.
DC met the injured, talked to them and with their family members/ attendants. While talking to the family members of the injured, DC assured that every possible help would be extended to them from district administration for their early recovery.
He directed the health authorities to take care of the injured persons and provide them necessary treatment.
