KATHUA, Aug 2: The district administration Kathua today launched an anti encroachment drive in Nagri Tehsil of the district.
This step was initiated when a deputation of locals turned up at DC Office, Kathua and apprised the Deputy Commissioner, Rohit Khajuria that land mafia has encroached upon a Gair Mumkin Rasta and stream, the length of which is half a Kilometre. They apprised DC that due to encroachment of Pathway they couldn’t go to their homes as well as the Gurudawara and a Dargah in the area.
DC assured the deputation that he will personally visit the spot and around 12 noon he reached the place and issued orders for demolishing of 16 structures. A machine was pressed into service by the authorities in demolishing the illegal structures on spot.
DC himself supervised the demolition drive along with ADC Kathua, ACR Kathua, tehsildar and Police officers.
