UDHAMPUR, Mar 6: Police today rescued 16 bovine animals at Jakhani, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Udhampur and also arrested the accused smuggler.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Rajiv Pandey said that acting on some reliable information, a Police party led by SHO Udhampur, Inspector Vijay Choudhary, laid a surprise naka at NHW near Jakhani Chowk Udhampur and intercepted a truck bearing Registration number JK02AR- 9839.
During the checking, 16 bovine animals were found loaded in this vehicle without any permission. All the bovine animals were rescued and the accused driver namely Wazir Mohd son of Ghulam Rasool of Digana, Jammu, was also arrested on the spot. However, helper of driver managed to flee away from the spot by taking the advantage of heavy traffic on road.
In this connection, a case FIR number 78/2019 U/S 188, RPC, 3 PCA Act has been registered at Police Station Udhampur and further investigation is going on.
