UDHAMPUR, Aug 27: Foiling yet another attempt of bovine smuggling, Udhampur Police rescued 12 animals and arrested two smugglers under the jurisdiction of Police Post Tikri.
Based on reliable information, a Police party of from Police Post Tikri laid a surprise naka at NHW last night and intercepted one truck JK14B-4519, which was on its way from Jammu to Kashmir.
During thorough search of the vehicles, 10 bovine animals were found packed inside this truck. Both the accused smugglers, namely Mohd Sharief of Talwara in Reasi and Mohd Fareed of Marallian, R S Pura were arrested on the spot while bovine animals were rescued.
The vehicle used for smuggling was also seized.
Police has registered a case in this connection U/S 188/RPC 3 PCA Act at Police Station Rehambal.
