JAMMU, Oct 20: One hundred eight fresh cases of dengue were reported today from various parts of Jammu and Kashmir, taking the total number of cases so far this year to 4059.
A Health official said that 58 cases were reported today from Jammu district alone while 28 cases were reported from Udhampur, 16 from Kathua, 4 from Samba and 1 case each from Kashmir region and outside J&K. The positive patients include 88 adults and 20 children, he added.
He said maximum 2692 cases reported so far are from Jammu district followed by Udhampur district with 505 cases, Kathua with 323 cases and Samba with 264 cases. “There were 74 cases in Rajouri, 45 in Ramban, 41 in Reasi, 30 in Doda, 25 in Poonch, 4 in Kishtwar, 22 in Kashmir and 30 from other parts of the country,” the official said.
The official further informed that a total of 1290 dengue patients have been admitted to the hospitals till date and of these, 1170 have been discharged and 84 patients are still under treatment while as dengue has claimed four lives so far this season.
“The dengue cases are rising with each day,” the official said, and advised that citizens should ensure no stagnation of water in and around their houses as mosquitoes responsible for dengue breed in stagnant water.
