RAMBAN, Mar 6: A total of 107 bovine animals were rescued and four vehicles seized today by Ramban Police at different Police nakas.
“Acting on specific information about the transportation of bovine animals, various police teams from Police Station Batote and Ramsoo intercepted four vehicles and individuals transporting bovines from Jammu to Srinagar. Upon inspection, it was discovered that 107 bovine animals were loaded in the 4 vehicles and subjected to cruelty without provisions for food and water. This transportation violated permissions from the competent authority,” a Police spokesman said.
He said as a result, 107 bovine animals were rescued and subsequently, three FIRs were registered in Police Station Batote and 1 FIR in Police Station Ramsoo under Sections 188 IPC, and under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act. An investigation has been initiated into these cases.
The successful rescue operation was conducted by police parties led by SHO Batote and SHO Ramsoo, under the guidance of Deputy SP Headquarters Ramban, SDPO Banihal and Additional SP Ramban under the overall supervision by SSP Ramban.
