10 years on, Pattan school without building

When natural calamities like earthquakes, floods etc damage and destroy public and private properties including school buildings , it is a natural corollary that the exercise of rebuilding, repairs and renovations should take place instead of leaving things as they turned out to be as a result thereof. However, residents of Dargam , Pattan Kashmir are sore about the building of the Middle School in their area having been damaged in an earthquake a decade ago, continuing to be without an alternative new building. This school established in 1966 has a roll of over 120 students and had been operating from the same dilapidated and damaged building , the authorities being oblivious of the potent hazards of such a way of running school is totally unacceptable. It is equally beyond comprehension as to why after lot of paper work and preparing of even a Detailed “Project” Report on the proposed new building, no action has so far been taken. We urge the authorities to look into the matter and have it resolved at the earliest.
