KATHUA, July 23: Ten persons were injured, five of them seriously, when the bus they were traveling in turned turtle at Mela More near Ghagwal on Jammu -Pathankote National Highway today, a police officer said.
The bus bearing number JK21-2681 was on its way to Kathua from Jammu when it turned turtle resulting in 10 persons getting injured, he said.
He said the bus was trying to over take another bus on the same road and it was in high speed. The driver lost the control on steering and bus turned turtle.
All the injured were rushed to a local hospital, he said.
A case has been registered by the police in Kathua in this regard, he added. However, the driver of the bus managed to flee after accident. The police has launched a search for him.
Meanwhile, a dead body of a laborer was found from a drain in Lakhanpur area. He has been identified as Santosh Kumar of Gorakhpur UP. He was working in Mehroli Paper Mill in Lakhanpur area. The Lakhanpur Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigations.
