Zulfkar reviews stock, supply position of essentials

JAMMU, Mar 30: Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CA&PD) & Tribal Affairs Ch. Zulfkar Ali today held a video conference with Deputy Commissioners to review the stock and supply position of essentials in the districts of the state.
The Minister took a detailed review of the stocks and supply position of Atta, Rice, Wheat, Sugar, Kerosene Oil, LPG and petroleum products.
He exhorted upon the Deputy Commissioners to ensure convenience of the consumers by way of making available essential commodities and their timely distribution. He directed the concerned for advanced stocking of food grains, sugar, kerosene and LPG in the districts to avoid inconvenience to the rationees.
The Deputy Commissioners of districts of Jammu region apprised the Minister that sufficient stock of essential commodities is available, which is being distributed to the rationees regularly.
Director CAPD Kashmir gave an overall view of the availability of stocks, distributions etc and informed the Minister that there is no shortage of essential commodities in Kashmir as well as Leh and Kargil where dumping of stocks has been made by the Department in advance.
The Minister reiterated that the directions have already been given to ensure that every ration dealer and fair price shop display the signboards, showing time of opening, stock availability, families attached with the depot under different schemes and scale of food grains available. He also directed authorities to ensure that the dealers at all depots install and use Digital Weighing Scales instead of conventional scales so as to check any malpractices on their part.
The Minister impressed upon the officers to conduct frequent market checking for curbing black marketing and hoarding and asked for strict action if anybody found involved in such malpractice.
The Minister also directed for constitution of Joint Committee comprising SDM, Tehsildar, Naib Tehsildar, officers from Police and CAPD Department to be tasked with the monitoring of the distribution of ration and other essential commodities under Public Distribution System and conducting regular market checking to keep check on overcharging, profiteering and other malpractices by the traders.
The Minister asked the Oil Companies to direct the gas agencies to ensure cent percent home delivery of LPG to the consumers and take action against those who are found still going by spot Delivery System.
