Zulfkar reviews preparations for implementation of NFSA

JAMMU, Nov 8: Jammu and Kashmir Government is likely to implement the National Food Security Act (NFSA) very soon and preparations for the same are going on in full swing.
This was stated by Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Choudhary Zulfkar while chairing a meeting here today.
The Minister while reviewing the preparations for implementation of National Food Security Act instructed the concerned officers to conduct a comprehensive workshop in this regard.
The Minister said that department has initially decided to implement the NFSA in Kathua, Udhampur and Samba districts of Jammu division and Shopian, Ganderbal and Pulwama districts of Kashmir division.
The minster asked the concerned department to develop Public Distribution System (PDS) portal of CAPD and directed them to make the digitized list of beneficiaries and upload it for more transparency. The minister also directed the concerned officers to introduce e-ration cards and link them with Aadhaar cards which would enable the beneficiaries of Public Distribution System (PDS) to get the cards online from the Government’s web portal without hassles.
The minister also stressed upon timely distribution of ration in remote and hilly areas.
He also said that district level vigilance committees would be constituted to ensure proper distribution of ration.
Mohammad Akbar Ganai, Special Secretary CAPD , G.S. Chib, Director CAPD Jammu, A.R. War Director CAPD Kashmir, Ramesh Chander Additional Secretary CAPD and K.S Kotwal Deputy Director CAPD Jammu attended the meeting.
