Zulfkar for conducting survey of uncovered villages for providing water

RAJOURI: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies, Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Information Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali today directed the Executive Engineer PHE to conduct a detailed survey of uncovered villages for providing water to these villages on priority basis.

The Minister was reviewing the status and progress of various water supply schemes being developed in Darhal assembly segment in a meeting with the officer of PHE department, here today.

Ch Zulfkar held a detailed review of individual water supply schemes, status of public grievances and issues, physical and financial status of works under District CAPEX budget, NRDWP, convergence and other schemes. He directed PHE department for conducting a detailed survey of uncovered villages for providing water supply in a time bound manner. The department was further asked to conduct a comprehensive survey of existing schemes and project requirement of resources for ensuring water supply to every household in the area.

The Minister was informed that under NRDWP out of a financial allocation of Rs 2.65 crore, amount of Rs 13.5 crore has been released for various schemes under execution. Likewise, 42 works are being taken up under CAPEX budget at a cost of Rs 58 lakh. Meanwhile, PHE Department is also taking up projects under convergence and CDF.

Directing the department to expedite the works and improve pace of development, the Minister directed the officers for efforts to take proactive measures to achieve the targets and conduct need assessment of every village. He also asked to hold meetings for dispute redressal for resumption of held up works without any delay and fixed timelines for various water supply schemes to be completed this year and completion of ongoing schemes.

Earlier, District Development Commissioner Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary gave a brief resume of various water supply schemes and works under execution.

Superintending Engineer Hydraulic, Rafiq Ahmed Khan, Executive Engineer Nissar Khan, AEEs and field staff of Darhal and Budhal blocks attended the meeting.
