Zulfkar for comprehensive plan to ensure oil tankers’ smooth movement

JAMMU, Feb 1: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Choudhary Zulfkar Ali today asked the concerned officers to make a comprehensive plan for smooth mobility of oil tankers to ensure there is no shortage of petroleum products in the State.
The Minister said this during a review meeting held here today.
The Minister was informed that by mid of the next week the oil companies, due to necessary repair work of their petroleum pipes running along railway tracks, would be ferrying their products via road through 1000 oil tankers per day.
He asked for adequate steps to be taken to ensure that all the tankers coming from Punjab carrying petroleum products are given a smooth passage so that the consumers do not face any kind of shortage of petroleum products in the State. He asked the concerned officers to dedicate two lanes for oil companies’ tankers at Lakhanpur toll post so that the vehicles can get a smooth passage.
Deputy Excise Commissi-oner Lakhanpur, Rajesh Sharma assured the Minister that the district administration would work round the clock to ensure that that all the petroleum vehicles are cleared immediately.
The meeting was informed that normally the oil companies get their petroleum products transported through railway wagons, however, due to some necessary works the mode of transportation could not be used for some time.
Speaking on toll tax at Lakhanpur, the Minister said in terms of weight for collecting toll tax at Lakhanpur oil companies can avail five percent relaxation, adding whatever, relaxation is permissible as per the rules and law would be provided.
Secretary, FCS&CA, Shafiq Raina, Special Secretary, FCS&CA Nisar Ahmad Wani, SP Traffic National Highway, Sanjay Kumar Bhagat,  Joint Controller, Legal Metrology Department, Jammu V S Sambyal, Retail Head, Bharat Petroleum Limited, Rajesh Sharma, Regional Manager, Hindustan Petroleum Corpo-ration Limited, Ajay Singh, and representatives of other oil companies attended the meeting.
