ZPHQ to bestow special training to deserving sportspersons: Dr SD Singh

JAMMU, Mar 17: To give fillip to sports in the State and cater to the needs of the outstanding sportspersons, the Zonal Police Headquarters will organize special training sessions and coaching camps for the deserving sportspersons under the guidance of expert coaches and professional trainers.
This was announced by Dr SD Singh Jamwal, Inspector General of Police Jammu while distributing prizes among the winners and runners-up teams of the Zonal Level Police Sports Festival at Parade ground here today.
The Zonal Level Sports Festival included Cricket boys, Cricket girls, Football, Volleyball, Kabbadi, Kho-Kho and Athletics for boys and girls of under-19 level was organized by Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu under Civic Action Programme under the overall supervision of IGP Jammu, Dr SD Singh Jamwal. SSP Rajesh Sharma was the In-charge Organizing Committee, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and Member Sports Council Jammu was the coordinator of the event.
In the valediction function, Dr SD Singh, IGP Jammu was the chief guest, while Rafiq-Ul-Hasan, DIG Jammu; Daud Iqbal Baba, Director Physical Education, University of Jammu and Ranjeet Kalra, Vice Chairman Sports Council Jammu were the guests of honour.
The Chief Guest distributed the trophies and medals among the winners and runners-up teams.
While speaking on the occasion, the chief guest said that the J&K Police is committed to engage the boys and girls in different sports activities to help them hone their sporting skills and not to derail from the main stream.
IGP Jammu also announced that a cash prize of Rs.10,000 for the winners and Rs5,000 for the runners-up for all games whereas in athletics Rs 3,000 for 1st  prize and Rs2,000 for the second and Rs1,000 for the third prize. Moreover in cricket individual cash prize of Rs 3, 000 for the player of the tournament in both boys and girls sections and Rs 1,000 for the man of the match in the final.
In Athletics (Girls) 100 mts,  Shikha Sharma (Jammu) bagged first place, Rimpi  Chouhan (Udhampur) won the second place and Tania Sharma (Udhampur) claimed third, while in Boys 100 mts,  Chander Malhotra (Jammu), Abhishek (Udhampur)  and Randhir Singh (Jammu) clinched 1st, 2nd and third position respectively.
Today, in Cricket boys, Jammu Rising Club bagged the title, while Kishtwar Cricket Club remained runners-up and Balhar Club Kathua claimed the third position.
In Cricket girls, Angels Club remained on top position, while Stadium XI was declared as second whereas Doda Club remained in third position.
While in the final match Jammu Rising Stars defeated Kishtwar Cricket Club by 11 Runs.
Batting first Jammu Rising Stars scored 120 runs for 8 in 18 overs, while in reply,  Kishtwar managed to score 109 for 9 wickets in 18 overs. Abdul Samad was declared as the man of the match, while Sahil Lotra was adjudged as the man of the series.
Sadiq Hussain, Saleem Ur Rehman,jagtar Singh,Madan, Sandeep,Sanju were the officials, while the the proceedings of the valedictory function were conducted by Rajesh Dhar and RP Singh.
