Zonal Police Hqrs, PCCAI to conduct Selection Camp for Physically Challenged cricketers

JAMMU, May 16:  Zonal Police Headquarters Jammu in collaboration with Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India will conduct Coaching Camp and selection trial matches for the Physically Challenged Cricketers of India at GGM Science College Hostel Ground here from May 18 to May 20, 2017 for the selection of National team. The Coaching Camp and trial matches will be organized under the direction and supervision of Dr. SD Singh, IGP Jammu, while Rajesh Gill, Chief Prosecuting Officer and former Ranji Trophy Player is the Coordinator of the event.
The selected players will represent India in the forthcoming ‘Indo-Afgan Friendship Series’ which is going to be organized by Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India at Greater Noida from May 22, 2017.
The main objective to conduct the Coaching camp and trial matches at Jammu for the Physically Challenged Cricketers is to provide the opportunity to the J&K cricketers to attend national camp and to play against the rest of India players to get a chance to represent the country.
It is pertinent to mention here that earlier J&K Police Department under its Civic Action Program had organized All India Super-Six T20 for the Physically Challenged Cricketers in which 6 teams namely Rajasthan, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Haryana, Punjab and J&K participated.
During the Camp net practice and trial shall be organized and best performers during these matches and performances in the All India Super-Six T20 will be considers for the selection of National team.
The Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India has nominated the panel of selectors which includes Nitender Singh, Director Cricket Operation Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India, Ravi Chouhan, Founder Secretary Physically Challenged Cricket Association of India, Rajesh Gill, Former Ranji Trophy Player and Rajesh Dhar, senior State  cricketer and Chairman Media Committee JKCA.
Rajesh Gill who is also the Incharge  of the J&K Physically Challenged Cricket team informed that one of the J&K players Jagmohan had performed well during the previous tournament held at Jammu and he will be considered for the selection.
The first match between J&K XI and Rest of India XI will be played on May 18, 2017 from 2 pm.
