JAMMU, Sept 28: Continuous struggle of locals and highlighting of the issue by Excelsior ultimately yielded positive results as the Director School Education, Jammu, has issued formal direction to the Chief Education Officer Samba to get the office of ZEO Purmandal shifted to Purmandal from its present location of Kunjwani Chowk immediately.
In conformity to the instruction, CEO Samba has further directed the ZEO Purmandal to shift the office immediately and submit the compliance report to his office within two day or face action.
“You are directed to shift the office immediately and submit the compliance report to this office within two days otherwise you shall be personally responsible for non-compliance of the orders and action under rules shall be initiated against you,” says the CEO Samba in his official communiqué, No.CEOS 15805-07, dated 27-09-2017, to ZEO Purmandal.
These instructions with stern warning in case of non-compliance have been issued following continuous struggle by the locals for shifting of ZEO office to Purmandal and highlighting of the issue by Excelsior in its edition, last month.
Pertinent to mention that ZEO Office Purmandal has been functioning at Kunjwani Chowk Jammu since 1991, that too from a rented building. Prior to this, the office had been functioning at Government Middle School Bari Brahmana on its inception in 1982.
Even as residents of Purmandal have been pressing hard for shifting of the ZEO office to the place for which it was sanctioned, the officers at the helm of affairs in School Education Department did not pay heed to the demand.
In a bid to pacify the protesting people, an arrangement was evolved last year, according to which a temporary camp office was established in Purmandal for two days in every week to sort out problems of locals. However, this arrangement continued only for a few months as this camp office was also closed without assigning any reason by the authorities. As the locals once again approached the higher authorities, Director School Education S Ravinder Singh formally directed the CEO Samba yesterday to get the office shifted to Purmandal from its present location of Kunjwani Chowk immediately and submit compliance report to him.
