ZCC Nishat outplays SCC in Chief Minister’s Cricket Cup

JAMMU, Feb 27: Zabarwan Cricket Club (ZCC) Nishat defeated Singh Cricket Club (SCC) Akhnoor by a narrow margin of 17 runs in the 1st State Level 50-Overs Cricket Tournament for Chief Minister’s Cup, being organized by Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council in collaboration with Country Cricket Academy at Gharota, near here.
The Tournament is being held in the memory of former Chief Minister, Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, under the supervision of Vikrant Sharma, Director Country Cricket Academy.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Zabarwan Cricket Club, Nishat scored 239 runs in 50 overs. Waseem top scored with 60 runs, while Mudasir, Nayeem, Sajjad and Irfan contributed 34, 26, 23 and 21 runs to the total respectively.  For SCC Akhnoor, Sameer Khajuria and Sunny took 3 wickets each, while Sunil took 2 and Rajkumar claimed one.
In reply, SCC Akhnoor could manage to score 222 in 48 overs, losing all their wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 17 runs. Nadeem and Saleem scored 53 and 51 runs respectively, while Sameer Khajuria contributed 33 runs to the total. For Zabarwan Club, Irshad scalped 3 important wickets, while Sajjad and Rauf bagged 2 wickets each. Hisham Saleem, Jimmy and Nayeem claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Sadiq Hussain Malik and Shiv Kumar Sharma as umpires, while Lakshya was the scorer.
In tomorrow’s fixture, United Cricket Club Udhampur will take on Border Cricket Club Arnia at 9 am.
