JAMMU, Oct 27: In response to the call given by party high command, a number of young leaders and activists of Congress headed by AICC member and ex-president of PYC, Pranav Shagotra, today held a protest demonstration over the issue of undue interference in the matter of CBI and illegal removal of its Director by the NDA Government at Delhi.
A large number of youth leaders and workers including Youth Congress workers and other senior young activists held a protest demonstration in front of Press Club Jammu and they were carrying placards denouncing Government’s action and raising slogans against Narendra Modi Government.
Addressing the gathering, Pranav Shagotra said the CBI episode has exposed Modi Government’s slogan of curtailing corruption. He said that CBI Director was removed through illegal way only to hide misdeeds in the Rafale deal. He said that noticeable achievements of Narendra Modi led Government at the Centre is looting public exchequer.
He also took strong exception to the manner in which the Modi Government has interfered in the independence of the premier investigation agency CBI and removed its director post midnight.
Exhorting workers to launch a mass movement to expose corrupt misdeeds of Modi Government, Shagotra said that NDA Government was serving interests of only big businessmen by sacrifices interests of the weaker sections of the society.
Former PYC president regretted that institutions which were established with a view to have an independent and autonomous functioning for smooth working of democracy, are being shamelessly bulldozed by the Modi Government at the Centre.
Those who were present include PYC vice-presidents, Pankaj Basotra, Sahil Sharma, PYC general secretaries, Chetan Wanchoo, Nimrandeep Singh and Ranjit Chopra, PYC secretaries, Brinder Pratap Singh, Ricky Dalotra, Hassan Mirza and others.
