Yassar wins gold in District Srinagar Ski Championship

SRINAGAR, Jan 19: Yassar Rather won gold in the ongoing District Srinagar Ski Championship, being organized by District Srinagar Winter Games Association at Gulmarg.
The competitions are being held in Slalom race under the aegis of Winter Games Association of Jammu & Kashmir.
Nearly 45 skiers are taking part in the Championship. The competitions were held in senior, Junior II, Junior I, and Children II categories.
In senior men category, Yasssar Rather, Reyaz Ahmad and Basharat won first three positions respectively; while in Junior II boys Mohammad Shahdab, and Basit Bilal got first and second positions respectively.
In Children II girls category Asfa Qureshi, Shemail and Faiqa bagged first three positions respectively; and in Children II boys, Haseeb, Mubashir and Sheikh Sajid Raza got first three positions respectively.
The skiers who successfully qualified in various age groups and were given consolation prizes included Nowsheen Bilal, Sana Afzal, Mansub Mushtaq and Sheikh Hamid.
Shabir Ahmad Wani, Assistant Director Youth Services was the chief guest on the occasion. Prominent among others present on the occasion were General Secretary WGAJK, Muhammad Yusuf and Arif Khan, International Skier.
The winners were awarded medals on the occasion. The championship was sponsored by the J&K State Sports Council.
The competitions will be held for Baramulla and Kupwara  districts tomorrow.
