YAIKS to Govt: How long Pandits have to suffer

JAMMU, Dec 17: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) held a one day interactive session here, today on the topic “Future of next generation of Kashmiri Pandits’’ under the chairmanship of its president, R K Bhat.
The representatives of all three sections of youth including over-aged youth, Valley posted migrant employees and unemployed youth of the community who wanted an answer from the Government “Akhir Kab Tak’’that upto how long the community especially the youth have to remain in exile and what is the future of the youth of the community who has a rich history of over 5000 years, participated in the session.
During the session, resolution was also adopted in which the PM’s return, relief and rehabilitation package for Kashmiri Pandits was termed only an eye wash. They demanded that the entire package be reviewed after a serious dialogue with concerned representatives of the community.
The session discussed threadbare the unattended  and disgusting approach of the Government regarding to the ultimate and one time settlement of the community who are refugees in their own country and are leading an exiled life for last 28 years. Questioning the State and Central Governments, the speakers wanted to know that what initiative they have taken for the microscopic community of KPs after their mass exodus  and how much State exchequer is involved for the welfare and permanent settlement of the community? Are the KPs not the stake holders and citizens of J&K. Terming the State administration of the J&K totally biased against them, the speakers said that except the temporary ration cards given to them over 28 years back the displaced people have noting to claim.
Others who addressed the interactive session included Manoj Handoo general secretary YAIKS, Ajay Safaya and Sanjay Ganjoo its secretaries,  Rakesh Fotedar, Sanjay Koul, Vinod Bhat, Vimal Ji, Sunil Ji, Anita Chaman, Nidhi Razdan, Bindu Ji, Pooja Ganjoo, Sonia Bhat, Pushkar Nath Pandita, Mohan Lal and S D Koul.
The session demanded one time compensation of Rs 50 lakh in favour of over aged youth of the community who are the main victims of terrorism, treating of all valley posted migrant employees at par with other Kashmiri migrant employees till the normalcy returns in Kashmir, the remaining posts of PM’s sanctioned 15,000 jobs to be given with the procedure of one family one job within a time bound period on fast track basis and Government of India should reserve 2 percent to 4 percent jobs for KP youth in Central Government departments and educational institutions, besides a special recruitment drive be launched in Police Department.
