YAIKS suspends agitation on assurance of Govt

PK, SKS condemn lathi charge

JAMMU, Oct 22: Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) activists who were not allowed to take the rally to Kashmir Valley yesterday and were detained at Tikri, Udhampur by police have suspended their ongoing week long agitational programme.
Announcing this, the president of the organization, R K Bhat said that the agitational programme was suspended on the intervention of Governor, Satya Paul Malik with whom the issue was taken by him this morning.
Bhat said the YAIKS has taken serious exception to role of district administration, Udhampur which issued orders of lathicharge on the hapless activists of his organization inside the police Station Tikri and inflicted injuries on some activists.
He said the entire matter was brought in the notice of the Governor by him who assured that the demands of displaced youth will be met soon.
He said the next programme will be announced soon in case the Government continued to maintain a stoic silence on the demands.
Meanwhile, Panun Kashmir (PK) held a meeting of its Political Affairs Committee to take stock of the recent political developments in the State. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of  Virender Raina and among others was attended by Kamal Bagati and Upinder Koul its general secretaries, Sameer Bhatt, convenor PK Youth and  P.K.Bhan senior leader.
It expressed serious concern regarding the rough treatment meted out to the youth of the community who were on their way to Kashmir to protest regarding the infirmities in the PMs employment package. Virender Raina, while addressing the meeting said that the peaceful protest is the birthright of every individual and to deny the same to the members of the Kashmiri Pandit community is a serious infringement of their fundamental and human rights.
Samporan Kashmiri Sangthan (SKS), chairman Anoop Kaul, president Rakesh Kaul and general secretary, Bharat Kachroo in a joint statement have also condemned the lathi charge on peaceful KP youth demanding implementation of PM job package.
