YAIKS holds convention of displaced youth

JAMMU, Nov 12: To chalk out its future strategy in seeking justice for displaced Pandits, over-aged youth who are the first victims of terrorism and mass exodus and were totally ignored over these years by successive Governments, the Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) organised a one day convention here, today.
The convention was chaired by president, YAIKS R K Bhat. It resolved to launch struggle for one time compensation in favour of over-aged youth who have been ignored over these years by successive Governments including the present Government both in the State as well as Centre.
The YAIKS, which is spearheading the struggle of displaced Pandits also decided to fight the survival issue of the displaced youth vigorously so that they get the justice in a stipulated time frame.
It was decided that a protracted struggle will be launched for the rights of displaced youth and in this connection the collection of data of unemployed KP over-aged youth will be started.  The data forms were also launched on the occasion and it was announced that these forms will be circulated in the community through the online webportals and later handed over to Government to seek compensation for 27 years of exile.
The YAIKS chief, R K Bhat in his address said that his organization was quite optimistic that Narendra Modi led Central Government will take drastic steps in settling the issue of displaced Pandits from Valley, but unfortunately it too is adopting the policies of previous governments in this regard.
Bhat asked the Government to start dialogue with displaced youth failing which they will be forced to launch agitation.
The other KP leaders who addressed the gathering included Kuldeep Pandita of Thinkers Forum, Rakesh Koul of Sampooran Kashmir, Ravinder Koul of Relief holders, B K Bhat, Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo, Ravinder Sharma, Rakesh Fotedar, Himcy Koul and Vineeta Tickoo of YAIKS besides D N Bhat, Pushkar Nath Pandita, S D Koul and Kiran Ji Dhar advisors of YAIKS.
