YAIKS discusses community issues

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Nov 28:Youth All India Kashmir Samaj (YAIKS) in its Core Committee meeting here, today held under the chairmanship of its president, R K Bhat discussed various issues being faced by displaced people from Valley in general and unemployed youth in particular.
The meeting expressed its satisfaction over the initiative of the Government to notify for fresh advertisement 1140 posts out of remaining 3000 posts for displaced youth under the PM’s employment package. The meeting however said it is unfortunate that SSRB has again reserved SC/ST/ALC etc category posts when the community is not having such categories.
Though, it was already resolved by the Government in previous notifications that in future such category posts will not be reserved. The YAIKS made an appeal to the SSRB to convert these posts into open merit category without wasting more time. The meeting also demanded that the remaining posts out of 6000 posts under the package be also advertised.
The meeting further demanded that long pending demand regarding one time compensation of Rs 50 lakh be also sanctioned without further delay  for over aged youth who are the worst sufferers of the exodus. It said the organization for the second time is taking initiative to frame a list of over aged youth and submit the same to Government.
Bhat said in this regard YAIKS has started a web portal to gather the data of people who could not pursue their education and left it mid way during the exodus in 1989-90. The organization is for one time compensation to the community which has been deprived of all Government schemes and policies till date, he added.
Bhat said the data is being gathered so that the same can be submitted to State and Central Government and these hapless people can get help under PM’s rehabilitation scheme.
Bhat expressed the hope that the pending demands of the community will be solved as early as possible otherwise YAIKS is constrained to launch struggle. Others who addressed included Sunil Koul, Manoj Handoo,Sanjay Ganjoo, Rakesh Fotedar, D N Bhat, Bushan Lal Bhat, Pushkar Nath Pandita and Mohan Lal Pandita.
