YAIKS activists protest, term rehabilitation package eyewash

JAMMU, Aug 21: The activists of Youth All India Kashmiri Samaj (YAIKS) held a massive protest demonstration in front of Governor House here, today in support of their long pending demands.
The protest demonstration was led by the president,  YAIKS, R K Bhat. With placards in their hands reading “Fight for Right”, “I am a Kashmiri Pandit, I love my Identity” etc and raising slogans in support of their long pending demands they urged the Government to settle the demands without any delay.
Addressing the protestors, R K Bhat alleged that the rehabilitation package for the KPs is  a total failure and a mere eye wash. He demanded that the package be restructured, redesigned and revised by holding a proper dialogue with YAIKS and its representatives. He also urged the community to come forward and carry forward the community struggle for restoration of its lost identity.
The protestors urged the Governor to sanction more 3000 jobs for the unemployed displaced youth in addition to already sanctioned 6000 jobs for left over candidates who could not be benefitted under PM’s rehabilitation scheme. They further demanded a new pattern be adopted in this package by giving one job to one displaced family.
They sought Governor’s intervention in passing directives to SSRB and Relief Organization not to reserve SC/ST/ALC/OCS posts unnecessary in the package when there are no such categories among displaced Pandits. They also demanded five percent reservations in Central Government as well as other State Government jobs for the displaced youth.
They said over 25,000 migrant employees retired over these years of turmoil but none of their posts was filled within the community members.
They said that earlier Government had agreed that whosoever will be ready to return to Kashmir will be provided the Government job as per candidate’s eligibility. But as the migrant youth applied for the job as per their qualification unfortunately most of the candidates were dropped for unknown reasons.
They said since the employment package was supposed to be dealt under the newly created Special SRO No 412 for the appointment of the candidates but the matter was referred to SSRB and Relief Organization for the recruitment with the result these agencies applied their own norms and kept the maximum posts reserved for SC/ ST/OBC/ALC and this way the posts remained unfilled for a long time and recruitment delayed.
The YAIKS served an ultimatum to the Government to start the dialogue with it on these demands failing which the organization will be forced to intensify the agitation.
B K Bhat, Sunil Koul, Manoj Handoo, Ajay Safaya, Sanjay Ganjoo and others participated in the protest.
