JAMMU, Aug 19: Youth Action Committee for Playground (YACP) organized a rally from Chatha Farm to Chatha Pind, demanding the development of a playground at Floriculture Garden between Bhour Camp and Indra Nagar, here.
The rally was as part of the spontaneous ongoing movement of the people from adjoining 8-10 Panchayats comprising of nearly 25 villages for the development of traditional playground which has been taken away from the people by the Floriculture Department.

The people protested against the ploughing of the land where the youth of the area have been playing for the last 50 years.
The protesters said that there is no such a big playground from Satwari to RS Pura, adding the land has been handed over to the Floriculture Department against the demand of the local people.
They further said that there is rampant drug menace in the area and the absence of playground means the absence of the arena where youth can channelize their energy in a right direction to not to derail from the mainstream.
Sarpanch of Halqa Panchayat Chatha Pind, Gurmeet Kour also spoke on the occasion and appealed the Govt to develop the ground for the youth of the area to not to leave them in the lurch.
The members of the Youth Action Committee said that they have already apprised the Advisor to the Governor and hoped for early redressal of the issue.
