KARGIL, Sept 11: Youth Action Committee from Kargil has urged upon the  Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to appoint State Information Commissioner as soon as possible to assure transparency in RTI Act.
Addressing a press conference here today, president YAC Kargil, Zakir Hussain, flanked by  former president if the committee Yawar Abbas said that since the post of State Information Commissioner is lying vacant there are thousands of cases pending in the office of SIC. He said that State Govt is taking least interest  in appointment of  SIC  and offices in local Administration do not bother to provide required information under the Act.  There is no one to listen to the public grievances.
Former president YAC Yawar Abbass said, “We are facing problems as two posts of Information Commissioners’  are lying  vacant. If Government wants to assure transparency in the State then why the Commissioners are not being appointed yet ?”
He further said that the local departments are not providing information under RTI to the people and the departments are not receiving any penalty for violation of the Act.
Mr Abbass said that it is public’s right to get information under RTI but same is being denied here in the district. There is no transparency at all.  Accusing Deputy Commissioner Kargil of this violation, he said, “We are the citizens of this country but the DC has issued circular against some information seekers under RTI. The matter has now been taken up with the Commissioner Kashmir and the Vigilance Commissioner.
