WOW celebrates success stories of women achievers

JAMMU, Dec 29: Women of Wisdom (WOW) – a women entrepreneurs group – first of its kind in Jammu, organized a function today here at Chamber of Commerce auditorium, to celebrate success stories of women achievers in strife torn State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The function organized with support of Chamber of Commerce was aimed at celebrating idea behind this programme was to inspire other women to carve niche for themselves. During the function, WOW honoured Mrs India Universe and other women achievers
WOW is involved in different women related activities in J&K. Within a short span of time WOW had made its mark in the region. Their activities range from skill development, capacity building, peace building and reconciliation at inter regional and intra regional level.
Mrs India Universe Anisha Safaya, who was the guest of honour, shared her personal experience with the audience present there. “Nothing is impossible, if you have faith in yourself,” she insisted.
Nitu Bhattacharya, Deputy Inspector General, CRPF, mesmerized audience with her emotional and inspirational speech. She said women are second to none. “Women can do what the man has done. Woman is not only mother of child, but mother of nation,’’ she said.
Dr Sunniya Ashkoor Wani, in interactive session, spoke about gender discrimination at different levels while youngest Arjuna Awardee and famous gymnast, Krupali Singh, insisted upon the importance of economic empowerment in day today life of women.
Internationally acclaimed painter, K K Gandhi made on spot painting of Jammu and Kashmir landscape, which he later gifted to Anisha Safaya.
Session was moderated by WOW team leader Sujata Anand. Besides briefing about WOWs initiatives, she also informed audience about the achievements of women honoured in the function. The function concluded with vote of thanks by Rakesh Gupta, president, Chamber of Commerce.
