World Population Day observed

JAMMU, July 11: World Population Day was celebrated across the State and in this connection, functions were held at all district headquarters.
Director Family Welfare MCH & Immunization, J&K, Dr Samir Mattoo, who is touring Jammu Division, inaugurated the function at District head quarter Kishtwar. Among the participants were, District Development Commissioner Kishtwar G N Balwan, SSP Kishtwar Sandeep Wazir, Deputy Director Health Services Jammu Dr Ajay Gupta, CMO, Dy. CMO, DIO and all the BMOs.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Samir Mattoo said for population stabilization, awareness generation, health spacing, post partum family planning, post abortion family planning and counselling clients on basket of choices is the need of the hour to create a healthy society.     He emphasized on quality of services being provided by Health workers and urged them to work with zeal and enthusiasm during the World Population Fortnight. This year the theme of the World Population Fortnight is “Nayi Lehar, Naya Vishwas Sampoorn Zimmedari Se Parivar Vikas”.
At District Srinagar, the function was organized by CMO Srinagar in presence of Dy CMO, DIO, Audio Visual Officer Family Welfare, Medical Superintendent Gousia Hospital at NTPHC Batamaloo.
At District Budgam, Harun Malik DDC, attended the function. CMO, Dy  CMO and DIO Budgam BMO  Budgam and  Nodal Officer Family Welfare Kashmir were also present in the function.
At District Udhampur,  Neeraj Kumar,  District Development Commissioner,  inaugurated the function at district headquarters in presence of CMO, Dy  CMO and DIO Udhampur.
Likewise,  inaugural functions were held at Anantnag, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Baramulla, Bandipora, Ganderbal, Rajouri, Poonch, Ramban, Samba, Kathua, Leh, Kargil, Doda, Reasi.
Population Fortnight activities will continue from 11th to 24th July.
