World Heart Day celebrated

JAMMU, Sept 29: World Heart Day was celebrated here today.
To commemorate the “World Heart Day”, Department of Cardiology, Government Medical College and Super Speciality Hospital, Jammu under the supervision of Dr Sushil Sharma, Head of the Cardiology Department organized various functions to create awareness among commoners about prevalence of cardiovascular disease and precautions to be taken to live a healthy life.
Hundreds of students from different schools of Jammu city joined “World Heart Day” celebrations at Super Speciality Hospital. Shamsher Singh Manhas, Member Parliament was the chief guest on the occasion, while Dr SP Verma Chairperson Gandhi Global Family, Dr Arun Sharma, Medical Superintendent besides senior faculty member and prominent citizens of Jammu were also present.
A similar kind of awareness activity for the junior faculty members and paramedical staff was also observed in the seminar hall of the department wherein Dr Sunanda Raina Principal GMC has also dwelt in detail this year World Heart Day message. Renowned Cardiologist Dr Mohan Lal also share his thoughts on the occasion.
To celebrate “World Heart Day”, the doctors at Super Specialty Hospital (SSH), Jammu delivered awareness lectures. On the occasion Dr Dharminder Kumar, Assistant Professor and Dr Sanjeev Bhat Lecturer, Cardiology Department organized an event in the department and delivered fruits and lecture to the patients admitted in the cardiology ward. An awareness lecture for the attendants and other visitors pertaining to cardio vascular diseases and its prevention was also delivered by Dr Dharminder.
