JAMMU, June 23: One day workshop on Breast Cancer “Early Detection and Referring to Right Centre” was organized by National Health Mission, J&K in collaboration with Biocon Limited Bangalore and AHA Regional Chapter Jammu, here today.
Dr Yashpal Sharma, Mission Director, NHM, J&K while inaugurating the workshop, welcomed the participants and highlighted the objectives of the workshop.
Dr Pawan Malhotra, Director ASCOMS while addressed the participants focused on the risk factors for all non-communicable diseases. He said that the workshop will raise the concepts of the service providers at all levels of health care facilities, and sought suggestions from the participants for improving the early detection and referral mechanism of the suspected cases of cancer.
Dr Mohammad Shafi Koka, State Nodal Officer, NHM, J&K presented vote of thanks.
Sandeep Mohan, Associate Director, Biocon Limited Bangalore along with his team and Academy of Hospital Administration, Regional Chapter, Jammu extended their support for organizing the workshop in the State.
Dr. Sunil Gupta, Medical Oncologist, Venkteshwara Hospital, New Delhi, Dr. Vikas Roshan, Radiation Oncologist Narayana Hrudayalaya, Super Speciality Hospital and Dr. Deepak Abrol, Deptt. Of Radiotherapy, GMC, Jammu were among the experts who gave detailed power point presentations and oriented the participants about various aspects of breast cancer and steps for screening, early detection, diagnostic methods and treatment protocol of positive cases of breast cancer.
The workshop was attended by Dr Harjeet Rai, Divisional Nodal Officer, NHM, Jammu, Dr Narinder Bhatial, Programme Manager, NHM, J&K, Medical Superintendents, Senior Consultants of various Specialties (Gynecology, Surgery, Medicine), Medical Officers, staff nurses of District Hospitals, along with Divisional Nodal Officer, NCD Cell, Jammu, officers and officials from District NCD Cell and officers from State Health Society, NHM, J&K.
