POONCH, May 21: The women from Nakkar area of Mendhar tehsil today held a protest against the PHE Department for its failure in providing water supply to the village and its adjoining hamlets for last couple of weeks.
The protesting villagers shouted slogans against local PHE Department employees by blocking Mendhar- Pathanateer road for hours.
Locals alleged that the employees of the PHE Department posted in their area are not repairing the water supply line of the village which got damaged few weeks ago, thereby affecting water supply to Nakkar and adjoining hamlets of Chattral.
They said that the daily wagers and casual workers engaged by the PHE Sub Division Mendhar in the area are not doing their duties owing to which people are facing immense hardships.
They appealed the district administration Poonch to direct the concerned PHE engineers posted in the area for ensuring water supply to the village and other adjoining hamlets forthwith.
