Woman’s dead body found in box

KATHUA, June 29: A dead body of a woman was recovered from a iron box which was floating in Ravi canal in village Pathwal today.
According to police one villager saw the box floating in the canal water and he informed the matter to Hiranagar Police about it.
Soon after receiving the information a police team from Hiranagar Police Station rushed the spot and took the box into its custody. After opening the box police found a decomposed dead body of a girl appearing 17 to 20 years of age in the box.
The girl was huddled in the box after strangulation with her neck twisted. The police took the body into its custody and later sent it to mortuary of GMC Jammu for identification. The Hiranagar Police has started investigation in this regard. A case under Section 302 RPC was registered in Hiranagar Police Station in this regard under FIR number 77.
It may be recalled that in ending 2015 a dead body of woman was also recovered Gurah Baloo falling under Hiranagar Police Station. The lady was also murdered and her body thrown in the village pond but so far no arrest was made in this regard.
