Woman dies of doc’s negligence

JAMMU, May 31: An elderly woman died today due to negligence of doctor in a private clinic in Jammu city.

According to the reports, a woman identified as Praveen Kaur (62) wife of Baljeet Singh, resident of Nanak Nagar (Jammu) had come to Dr Satish Mehta (ENT) clinic located at Shalamar Road for a minor operation of tonsils with which she was suffering.
However, as per the reports, the woman died before undergoing operation due to overdose of anesthesia following which her family members held a brief protest and lodged a written complaint against the doctor and its clinic at police station City.
Following the complaint of the family, a case FIR No 37/2018 under Section 304 A RPC was registered at City police station and the body of the deceased was shifted to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu where after conducting postmortem by a board of doctors, it was handed over to her legal heirs for last rites.
Meanwhile, according to SDPO City, Varun Jandial, the clinic has been seized by the police and the accused doctors namely Dr Satish Mehta and Dr Rakesh Mahajan (Anesthesia) and their operating team including NOs and helpers have been taken into custody and are being interrogated.
