Woman among 3 convicted in rape case

REASI, Nov 14: Court of Principal Session Judge Reasi has convicted a woman among three persons for their involvement in a rape case of 2015 in Reasi.
In its judgment, the court convicted Sunil Kumar alias Balwant, resident of Kanji Tehsil, district Reasi, Sat Paul alias Matha, resident of Kanjli Tehsil for rigorous imprisonment of 25 years with fine of Rs 10000/- for offence under section 376 RPC alongwith rigorous imprisonment of one year with fine of Rupees.1000/- for offence under section 342 RPC.
The court also convicted Revo Devi alias Parsenoo, wife of Pawan Kumar resident of Kanjli, Reasi with the rigorous imprisonment for 03 years and fine of Rupees 5000/- for offence under section 363 RPC.
The brief facts of the case are that a complaint was lodged by father of the victim on 12.05.2015 at Police Station Reasi alleging therein that on 09.05.2015 his daughter was taken to the forest by the accused Revo Devi in connection with collection of firewood and thereafter she called Sunil Kumar and Sat Paul who committed rape upon the victim. When the victim raised alarm, she was threatened by the accused. During investigation of the above case by ASI Prithvi Raj, all the accused persons were arrested on 12.05.2015. During trial period, the case was meticulously pursued by the public prosecutor and prosecution wing of District Police Reasi, which resulted in conviction of the accused persons.
