There has been so much hullaballoo about Rajya Sabha nominations. First of all, why do we need Rajya Sabha ? We should have only Lok Sabha where we have only the directly elected representatives. Is not Rajya Sabha only a backdoor entrance to become a member of the Council of Ministers in the Central Government? Does nor democracy mean “Govt of the people, by the people and for the people” who are directly elected. And how can individuals rejected by the people in an election become a Minister by getting into the Rajya Sabha ? In my opinion, it is time we abolished in Rajya Sabha and if required increase the number of Lok Sabha members.
