Wheat edges up on increased offtake by flour mills

NEW DELHI, May 28:  Wheat prices edged higher by Rs 15 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today due to increased offtake by flour mills amid restricted arrivals from producing belts.
However, other grains after moving in a tight range on little doing and settled at previous levels.
Traders said besides increased offtake by flour mills, fall in arrivals from producing regions mainly pushed up wheat prices.
In the national capital, wheat dara and wheat MP (desi) were up by Rs 15 each to Rs 1,715-1,720 and Rs 2,340-2,600 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and traded higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,720-1,725 per quintal, respectively.
Atta flour mills, maida and sooji also finished higher at Rs 910-915, Rs 980-990 and Rs 1,025-1,035 from previous levels of Rs 890-900, Rs 970-980 and Rs 1,000-1,020 per 50 kg, respectively.
