JAMMU,
Nov 14: With
a view to restore pristine glory of heritage
sites besides their smooth conservation and
preservation, the Government has constituted
Heritage Conservation and Preservation Authority,
said Tourism and Culture Minister, Nawang Rigzin
Jora while chairing first meeting of committee
members of the authority today.
He said that a
corpus fund of ` 50 crore would be kept at the
disposal of authority to carry out the necessary
conservation and restoration works of heritage
sites of the State.
Mr Jora instructed
concerned authorities to initiate necessary
process for listing, grading and declaration of
heritage sites for conservation, which he said
would also prove beneficial to promote tourism in
the State.
The meeting
discussed several issues related to conservation
and preservation of heritage sites including
historical building artifacts, sculptures,
paintings, photographs, structures, architectural
and aesthetic, cultural and environmental
significance of historical nature of the State.

Environmentalist C. M. Seth, former Director
General Archives, Archeology and Museum, an
expert of heritage conservation, K. A. Qadri and
convenor INTACH J&K Chapter, Saleem Baig
participated in the meeting as official and
non-official authority members.
The meeting while
discussing issues under the Act decided that all
heritage tangible and in-tangible sites would be
listed and graded for conservation in all the
three regions of the State, was informed that so
far 41 heritage sites have been declared as State
protected monuments while as several more were
under the process of declaration.
Declaration of
Mughal Gardens of Kashmir as historic sites also
came under discussion and it was decided that
appropriate action would be taken in consultation
with other departments for their preservation and
conservation.
In order to
educate youth and general masses about the
significance of heritage assets of the State, the
meeting decided that seminars and workshops would
be conducted through INTACH and Universities in
educational and other institutions.
Meanwhile, Mr.
Jora visited the Mubarak Mandi Complex and
inspected several ongoing works. He directed the
concerned authorities to complete upgradation
work of Dogra Art Museum and make it more
attractive and scenic.
The Minister was
informed that upgradation work of the Museum
would be completed by the end of December this
year.
Mr. Jora also
inspected renovation and conservation work of
Maharaja's Army headquarter and foreign office
which has been completed at a cost of ` 3. 52
crore.

JAMMU,
Nov 14: Various
units of the Congress party organized functions
in different parts of State to celebrate 122nd
birth anniversary of first Prime Minister of the
country, Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.
In Jammu, the main
function was held at Party Headquarters at
Shaheedi Chowk which was attended by large number
of Congress functionaries and workers. Pradesh
Congress Committee president, Prof Saif-ud-Din
Soz presided over the function.
Speaking on the
occasion, Prof Soz characterized Nehru as the
true builder of modern India who laid foundation
of numerous institutions during his life time
which later became significant milestones of
Indias march towards socio-economic
development.
He said that when
Jawaharlal Nehru was at the helm, India was
fighting a battle against poverty and illiteracy.
But, Nehru made it possible not only to fight a
glorious battle for socio-economic resurgence of
India, but also bring India at the world stage to
lead the world in the realm of ideas. It is an
established fact that Pt Nehru succeeded in
achieving a role for India in the international
arena, he added.
Prof Soz further
said that the birth of NAM (Non Alligned
Movement) was due to Pt Nehrus vision.
On the occasion,
Prof Soz urged the Congress party colleagues to
help him to institute Nehru Vichar Manch in Jammu
to propagate the ideas of Pt Nehru so that the
present generation of students in colleges and
schools grow as inspired and enlightened citizens
of India.
He explained his
plea further by suggesting that certain schools
should be adopted solemnizing the function in
future with children.
Among others who
spoke on the occasion included former Deputy
Chief Minister, Mangat Ram Sharma, Minister for
Medical and Technical Education R S Chib, Dharam
Pal Sharma, Mohammad Muzzafar Parray, Th Hari
Singh, MLC Yash Paul Khajuria, Gurmukh Singh,
former Minister Mula Ram, Chairman Social Welfare

Similar function
was also organized by District Congress Committee
Udhampur where floral tributes were paid to first
Prime Minister of the country. The function was
presided over by former Minister and JKPCC
vice-president and MLC Yashpal Khajuria. MLA
Chenani, Krishan Chander Bhagat also participated
in the function.
Addressing the
party workers, Mr Khajuria said that Pt Nehru was
a great architect, who always wanted to make
India a strong and self-dependent country. He
added that Pt Nehru was an inspiration, a
revolutionary and a great leader, who liberated
country from the foreign dominations through a
peaceful struggle.
In Poonch, the
birth anniversary of Pt Nehru was celebrated at
district headquarters under the chairmanship of
Ch Bashir Naaz, Vice-Chairman State Advisory
Board for the development of Gujjar Bakerwal.
Speaking on the
occasion, Ch Bashir Naaz appealed the people for
strengthening Congress party, adding central high
command of the party and the Coalition Government
in the State are committed to the equitable
development of all the regions of the State.
The other speakers
threw light on the life of Pt Nehru and his
contribution for the great nation.
Reports from
Srinagar said that PCC organized a function at
Party Headquarters where rich tributes were paid
to former first Prime Minister of India.
The speakers,
while lauding the role of Pt Nehru in the nation
building, said that his five year reconstruction
plan had taken the country to new heights in
every field. It was during Pt Nehrus tenure
that India got recognition in the world as fast
developing and powerful country.
Among others who
spoke on the occasion include MLC Bashir Ahmed
Magrey, Abdul Majid Padder, Abdul Gani Khan and

Court
frames corruption charges against ex-SE PHE

Nov 14: Special
Judge Anticorruption Jammu, Pawan Dev Kotwal
today framed corruption charges against Syed
Muzaffar Hussain Shah, then Superintending
Engineer, Doda circle (now retired as Chief
Engineer).
According to the
Vigilance case, accused officer during his
posting as SE, Hydraulic Circle, Doda placed
orders worth ` 20 lakh with fake firms for
purchase of store items such as pipe wrenches and
chain wrenches for Public Health Engineering
Division of Doda and Kishtwar for the year
2003-04.
On the basis of
documentary and oral evidence collected during
the course of Joint Surprise Check a case was
registered. During the course of investigation,
it came to fore that accused public servant by
abusing his official position conferred undue
pecuniary benefits to the accused proprietors
thus causing a huge loss to the State exchequer
by purchasing store items on highly exorbitant
rates.
The Court also
framed charges against one Sheraj Ahmed Shinali,
Proprietor of M/s Shinali Brothers, Doda, a firm
registered with Sales Tax and Labour Department,
for hatching conspiracy in league with then SE
PHE.
After hearing CPO
Parshtom Sharma appearing for the State, Special
Judge Anticorruption Jammu Pawan Dev Kotwal
issued non-bailable warrants against Javed Iqbal
Sheikh, Tahir Jameel Bhat, Nusrat Jehan Ara and
Haq Nawaz Nehru.
Petitions
challenging transfer of JEs from
R&B to RDD dismissed

JAMMU,
Nov 14: State
High Court today dismissed petitions challenging
transfers of Junior Engineers (Civil) Grade-II
from Public Works Department to the Rural
Development Department vide order dated October
29, 2010.
Deputy Advocate
General Neeru Goswami appearing for State
submitted that Under Secretary to Government,
Rural Development Department, in a communication
dated September 1, 2010 addressed to Commissioner
Secretary, Public Works (R&B) Department made
a request for transferring 258 Junior Engineers
on deputation to Rural Engineering Wing of the
Rural Development Department on the ground that
shortage of manpower in the engineering wing of
the Rural Development Department was causing
adverse impact on the flagship programme.
It was submitted
that in terms of the J&K Rural Development
(Subordinate) Service Rules, 2007 notified vide
SRO 178 dated May 9, 2007, 90 per cent of the
Junior Engineers in the Rural Development
Department are to be provided by the Public Works
(R&B) Department on deputation basis.
After hearing
Advocate S K Shukla appearing for the petitioners
whereas Deputy AG Neeru Goswami for the State,
Justice Muzaffar Hussain observed, "Article
22-D provides that deputation covers appointments
made by transfer of in-service Government servant
in public interest outside their parent
organization on temporary basis. The statutory
rule thus makes the expression transfer and
deputation akin each other and authorizes the
competent authority to make temporary reputation
of its employees".
With these
observations, the court dismissed the petitions.

in Vigilance net

Nov 14: State
Vigilance Organization caught red handed Balwan
Singh, Patwari, Halqa Flora, Nagbani while
demanding and accepting a bribe of ` 5000 from
the complainant Sardari Lal son of Dewan Chand of
Ladore, Jammu.
An official
spokesman said that Sardari Lal lodged a written
complaint with Police Station Vigilance
Organisation stating therein that the complainant
had applied for Nakal Jamabandi of his 8 kanals
of land situated at village Ladore. The Nakal
Jamabandi was required for sanctioning of loan by
the Bank for purchase of tractor by the
complainant. However Balwan Singh, Patwari Halqa
Flora Nagbani, Jammu demanded ` 5000 as bribe
from the complainant for issuance of the Nakal
Jamabandi.
On the basis of
complaint, a case was registered and
investigation taken up.
During
investigation, the officials of State Vigilance
Organisation organized a trap and accused
Patwari, Balwan Singh was caught red handed while
demanding and accepting phenolphthalein dusted
amount of ` 5000 from the complainant in the
presence of independent witness. The tainted
bribe money was recovered and the accused was
taken into custody for further investigations.

Natrang
hosting International Rock performance on Nov 16

is hosting an International performance of a Rock
band from New York on November 16, 2011 at 5 pm
at its studio theatre.
Solar Punch is a
US based Rock band which is on a mission to
promote climate solutions globally and bridge
cultural bridges.
While briefing
Natrang Director Balwant Thakur informed that
Solar Punch uses music to sing about science and
the environment and holds workshops to help
explain simple solar concepts and provide
examples of where solutions are in use at
locations around the world. Routinely performing
as a four piece band, Solar Punch was founded by
James Dean Conklin and Alan Bigelow in September
2007.
Solar Punch is
part journalism, part classroom, part
multi-cultural bridge builder, and all rock and
roll. The noteworthy part of the group is that
they perform through solar powered equipments and
instruments, he added. Expanding on the
'edu-tainment' concepts learned with Circus Guy

PEEU
holds meeting, discusses demands

JAMMU,
Nov 14: Provincial
Electrical Employees Union (PEEU) held a meeting
under the chairmanship of Tara Chand Choudhary in
which delegates of different tehsils and
districts discussed their demands, here today.
The main agenda of
the meeting was to frame a strategy for
resolution of pending demands of the PDD
employees already discussed in the several
meetings. G M Tantry, senior president criticized
the Government for its delaying tactics to
resolve their genuine demands.
PDD employees said
that they would not tolerate at any cost further
delay, for which they will launch agitation
programmes, if demands are not redressed with in
shortest possible time.
The demands which
were discussed in the meeting included
retrospective effect to already regularized daily
wagers, risk allowance to all PDD employees,
issuance of DPC order in favour of technicians,
implementation of welfare scheme, amendment in
service recruitment rule, full benefit of SRO 149
to ITI trained employees, regularization of daily
wagers, who have completed more than 16 years of
service in the department. Others present on the
occasion were Rash Paul, Hardartaan Singh, Babu
Ram and Sanjay Sharma among others.

Diabetes Day observed

Nov 14: Like
other parts of country, the World Diabetes Day
was observed by various Government and private
health institutions besides Non-Governmental
Organizations today.
In a function
organized by Inner Call, a Forum for Evolution,
Development and Awareness, Minister for Medical
Education, R S Chib said that observance of
diabetes day helps to create awareness among the
masses so that they take precautionary measures
to avoid the disease. He said knowledge about
causes and preventive measures has become
essential to live a happy and healthy life.
Chairperson of
Inner Call, Roma Wani, speaking on the occasion,
apprised that besides North Kashmir, "The
Inner Call" has been working for
de-addiction in South Kashmir for last 11 years.
She said that 2 villages namely Chak Bhalwal and
Hakkal have also been adopted in Jammu where it
has been working for the health of children and
rural populace.
Later, the
Minister released placard "The Inner
Call".
To mark World
Diabetes Day, Government Gandhi Nagar Hospital
organized a diabetic walk in Gandhi
Nagar area to bring awareness among the people.
Gandhi Nagar Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr
Romesh Gupta flagged off the walk. A diabetic
detection camp was also organized in the hospital
in which nearly 100 patients were screened for
the diseases and advised preventions and
precautions.
CMO Jammu Dr
Baldev Sharma, Dr Sunil Sharma and Dr Uttam
Sharma were also present on the occasion.
The Department of
Medicine, ASCOMS, Sidhra in collaboration with

Free Eye Check-up
camp, on World Diabetes Day was organised by the
Centre for Sight at its Jammu Centre. A large
number of patients get their eyes examined by the
renowned doctors and also availed the special
benefits like free blood sugar test.

Dr. R.D. Sood, Medical Director, Jammu Centre
while speaking on the occasion threw light on the
alarming rise of diabetes throughout the world
and how the disease affect the eyes.

Care Centre, Talab Tillo held Diabetes Detention
cum Neuropathy Camp where Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, a
renowned Diabetologist posted in the Government
Medical College was the resource person.
Dr Sharma advised
about proper management and preventing aspects of
diabetes and emphasized on monitoring of blood
glucose levels which in the long run are
important to avoid complications of diabetes such
as Nephropathy, Neuropathy, Retinopathy,
Cardiovascular and Peripheral Artery Diseases,
which are cause of concern to both State and
society as it leads to lot of morbidity and
mortality thus causing enormous economic loss.

IMPA
conducts training on Commercial Tax matters

Nov 14: The
Institute of Management and Public
Administration, Jammu, today organised a 5-day
training programme on Commercial Tax matters.
Being sponsored by
J&K Finance Department, the programme will
train 225 officers drawn from Revenue Department,
Commercial Taxes, Engineering Department and
Local Bodies.
Director General,
IMPA, Dr. R.K. Jerath, inaugurated the programme
while Commissioner Secretary Finance Department,
Sudhanshu Pandey and Divisional Commissioner,
Pawan Kotwal, were the guests of honour.

Commercial Taxes, Gazzanfer Hussain, senior
district Registrar Bhopal (resource person), V.S.
Mittal, faculty members and members of IMPA were

The programme has
been designed to expose the participants to

records is incomplete unless the officers are not

Only 3
PoK guests arrive, 26 Kashmiries cross to other
side

SRINAGAR,
Nov 14: Only
three fresh guests from Pakistan-
occupied-Kashmir (PoK) arrived here this
afternoon while 26 Kashmiries cross over to other
side of the Line of Control (LoC).
As many as fifty
returnees from both sides also cross sides at
Kaman post, the last Indian military post on LoC
in Uri sector.
The weekly bus
operating between Srinagar and Muzaffarabad,
capital of PoK, was suspended last monday because
of Eid-ul-Azha.
Official sources
told that three PoK guests arrived at Kaman Post
after crossing the Aman Sethu, peace bridge this
afternoon.
They said 28
Kashmiries, who had gone to PoK also returned to
their homes.
Sources said 26
residents of different parts of the Kashmir
valley crossed over to other side to meet their
relatives, seperated in 1947.
They said 22 PoK
residents returned to their homes after
completing stay here.

Bhalla
inaugurates deep drill tube well

JAMMU,
Nov 14: Minister
for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Raman
Bhalla today inaugurated 15000 gallon discharge
capacity deep drill tube well at Trikuta Nagar,
completed at a cost of ` 187.32 lakh under Water
Supply Scheme Khadwala, Nanak Nagar.
Addressing a
gathering of the residents on the occasion, Mr
Bhalla said on the commissioning of tube well the
drinking water scarcity problem of 11850
inhabitants of 1, 6, 7, 10, 12, 13 and 14 sectors
of Nanak Nagar area would be solved to a large
extent.
The Minister said
the Government was committed to provide adequate
drinking water facilities to every inhabitation
of the State with a population of 5000 souls by
digging deep drill tube wells.
He said 22 tube
wells constructed by ERA and 10 under State plan
have already been commissioned across his home
constituency to ensure that no household remains
without this vital facility. He called upon the
people not to waste drinking water and use it
judiciously.
Listing the
developmental activities taken up in Nanak Nagar
area, Mr. Bhalla said the Government has
earmarked ` 65 lakh for construction of
double-lane bridge to reduce journey from
Sector-5 to Sector 6 and 7. He said the work on
the project is underway on war-footing and would
be completed by next month.
Later, the
Minister visited Surinsar in Nagrota block and
distributed cheques worth ` 24. 26 lakh to 5283
drought hit families of Athem, Khana Chargal,
Sail Jagir and Pair Gargan villages of Niabat
Jandrah.

Day celebrated with fervour, enthusiasm

Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru, was celebrated with
great enthusiasm in educational institutions,
including the Government and the private ones,
with traditional fervour.
Terming the
students as future of the nation, Minister for
Education, Peerzada Mohammad Sayed, today
stressed upon the teachers to play their role in
the physical and mental development of the
students. He was speaking at a function organized
by Education Department to celebrate
Childrens Day today.
Hundreds of
children enrolled under Project PAHL, celebrated
the day in a unique manner. Instead of organizing
routine cultural events, the students stepped out
of their class rooms and visited slum dwellings
and made the children aware about their rights.

Gandhi Nagar Jammu, celebrated Childrens

Centre
to fund upgradation of power infrastructure:

JAMMU,
Nov 14: Minister
of State for Power, Shabir Ahmad Khan today said
that Centre has agreed to provide funds to the
State Government for upgradation of power
scenario in the State under Restructure
Accelerated Power Development Reforms Programme
(R-APDRP), adding under the programme electric
infrastructure would be upgraded in all the
villages and notified areas with population of
more than 4000 souls.
This was stated by
the Minister while reviewing overall power
scenario of the State at a high level meeting
held here today. He directed PDD authorities to
prepare Detailed Project Reports for Centre
funding under this scheme so that necessary
upgradation works could be taken up well in time
in all the regions of the State.
Mr Shabir
reiterated that development of power sector in
the State is priority of the Government for which
measures have been taken to upgrade the power
infrastructure besides providing hassle free
power supply to the consumers of the State. He
instructed concerned authorities to ensure timely
completion of all ongoing projects and collection
of power tariffs on regular basis besides urgent
nature of repair and renovation of power
infrastructure.

The Minister while

authorities to make frequent visits at
developmental sites to avoid loop-holes in
installing technical equipments.
The meeting also
reviewed physical and financial achievements of
Rajouri-Poonch districts under the sector and it
was told that requisite funds would be provided
for completion of under execution works.
The meeting was
informed that construction of seven receiving
stations in Rajouri-Poonch districts are near
completion at a cost of ` 10.5 crore which would
be commissioned soon evacuation of power from
newly constructed receiving stations for which
the concerned engineers have been directed to
submit detailed project report for release of Rs
63 lakh from administrative department.

Manohar
kickstarts Cooperative Week celebrations

Nov 14: Minister
of State for Cooperatives and Finance Dr. Manohar
Lal Sharma kick started celebration of
Cooperative Week, organized by Jammu Central
Cooperative Bank (JCCB) at Sehkari Bhawan here
today.
Addressing the
gathering, the Minister said the cooperative week
is celebrated every year throughout the nation on
the eve of birth anniversary of first Prime
Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru whom he
said has given new direction to cooperative
movement making it popular and vibrant.
He said that the
movement has, however, weakened over the last
20-25 years witnessing less participation of
public. He said the Government has taken steps to
revive the movement so that the benefits reach to
the people at gross root level.
Underlining the
need to launch membership drives, Mr. Sharma said
maximum participation of people would give new
lease of life to the movement. He stressed the
need to strengthen it so that new avenues of
employment opportunities are created for
unemployed educated youth.
The Minister
appealed the general public to get registered
themselves with cooperative societies so that
these societies can develop and flourish day by
day, even as he gave an account of the
diversification of their business.
The Minister said
the movement has vast scope in State, adding that
there is dire need to work with utmost zeal,
dedication and honesty so that societies can
serve the people efficiently. He directed the
concerned to make the mechanism more effective
and make sure that loans provided are recovered
on time.

Traders
demand revocation of AFSPA

SRINAGAR,
Nov 14: Traders'
bodies today said that revocation of Armed Forces
Special Powers Act (AFSPA) from the State would
act as a great Confidence Building Measure (CBM).
Addressing a press
conference, Siraj Ahmad, secretary general
Kashmir Economic Alliance (KEA), said that people
of State are the real stake holders to the issue
of AFSPA. He said that there is a general
consensus among the masses that the Act should go
so that they can live a happy and a peaceful
life.
Siraj said that
they would carry out a sustained campaign for
revocation of AFSPA from the State, adding that
there would not be any let up in this regard. He
said the human rights and civil liberty groups
across the globe have termed AFSPA as a tool of
abuse, operation and discrimination against the
common masses.
Sharing his views,
Mohammad Yasin Khan, chairman KEA said that
"the business community is suffering due to
the imposition of AFSPA and as such we want this
Act to be revoked. There should be no dilly
dallying on this issue and the decision to revoke
AFSPA should be taken at the earliest."

Migrant Cell discusses problems of KPs

Nov 14: The
Bharatiya Janata Party Migrant Cell today
discussed the various problems being faced by the
displaced Kashmiri Pandits in a meeting held here
today.
The meeting was
held under the chairmanship of Bharat Bushan Bhat
Goswani and discussed in detail about the
problems being faced by migrant community. He
urged the Central and State Governments to
declare the Kashmiri Pandits constitutionally,
educationally and economically deprived and
announce the special socio-economic package for
the upliftment of the community.
R K Wangnoo, vice
president of the Cell, demanded reservation of
seats in the State Legislature and Parliament for
highlighting the problems of Kashmiri Pandits.
Sweety Kaul in her
address demanded enhancement of monthly relief in
favour of displaced relief holders upto ` 10,000
per month and one time stipend to educated KP
migrant youth, who had crossed the age limit of
40 years.

problems and grievances of KP community on the
occasion.

NPP
workers hold protest

Nov 14: About
500 workers and activists held a massive
demonstration outside the J&K Bank Zonal,
Office Head Complex, Jammu.
The protesters
were demonstrating against discriminatory
treatment doled out to Jammu youth in the matter
of selections for various posts in J&K Bank.
They alleged large scale irregularities and
frauds being committed by the J&K Bank in
making selections at various levels including
financial executives, REs, Banking Associates,
clerks and class IV employees.
Prominent leaders
present on the occasion were Faqir Nath, S Dalit
Singh, R S Billowria, Partab Singh, Rajesh
Padgotra, Manoj Gupta, Shanker Singh, Rajesh

the problems being faced by the statistical cadre
and other staff members of the organization.

and Kaleshwar Singh urged the Director to
consider the DPC problem of the employees. The
deputation also urged the Director to conduct
fresh election of Non-Gazetted Statistical
Employees Association in the month of January .

patient hearing to the deputation and assured
them that their genuine demands would be
considered.

Tarigami
demands release of wages of casual labourers

Nov 14: CPI
(M) State secretary and MLA M Y Tarigami urged
the State Government to release the wages of
need-based workers and casual labourers working
in various Government Departments.
In the press
statement here, Mr Tarigami said need based
workers and casual labourers working in various
Government Departments were facing lot of
hardships in the absence of payments. He said
that it was irony of sorts that these workers are
not being paid even minimum wages and demanded
safeguarding of their service interests, besides
timely release of their remunerations.
He regretted that
even the auspicious days of Diwali, Eid-ul-Azha
and Gurupurab meant nothing to these people as
they were not able to feed their families for non
release of their pending wages.
He further called
for regularization of all those daily wagers and
casual labourers, who had completed their seven
years tenure in PDD and other engineering
departments as per the norms.

NC MLA
castigates Govt

RAJOURI,
Nov 14: Senior
leader of National Conference and MLA Nowshera,
Radhay Sham Sharma today alleged that his
constituency is not being given proper attention
by the present Coalition Government.
In a statement, Mr
Sharma said, "despite the formation of
NC-Congress coalition Government Nowshera
constituency is getting step motherly treatment
during the process of making allotments for the
developmental funds in the priority sectors like
PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, PWD, Health,
Education, Tourism and PDD".
He said that to
tackle acute shortage of drinking water he by his
hard efforts got approved 21 water supply schemes
but not even a single penny has been released so
far. "Similarly, in the PWD sector 70
projects of vital roads are awaiting approval for
the last three years. Moreover, not a single PHC,
Veterinary Centre and Sheep Centre has been
sanctioned", he added.
The NC MLA further
said, "demand for upgrading Sub-District
Hospitals of Nowshera and Sunderbani with blood
bank facilities is also not getting due
attention. The Trauma Hospital sanctioned long
back at Sunderbani has not been established so
far and upgradation of schools is still awaiting
nod of the Government during the past three
years".
"Project for
construction of building of Government Degree
College Nowshera sanctioned long back for which
land has already been identified is yet to see
light of the day", he regretted while
highlighting long list of demands, which he had
raised three years back but failed to get the
attention of Government.
He appealed the
Chief Minister to personally intervene for
redressal of all the vital issues raised by him
in the general interest of the public of his
constituency. "If the issues are not
addressed at the earliest, the general public may
come on roads for getting justice", he
warned.

Nagri-Parole, Dogri Sanstha hold Dogri Poetry
recitation contest

Nov 14: The
Government Higher Secondary School Nagri-Parole,
Kathua in collaboration with Dogri Sanstha,
Jammu, organised Dogri Poetry recitation contest
in its premises today.
Large number of
students took part in the competition and recited
Dogri poems of renowned authors including
Surinder Singh Manhas, Randhir Raipuria, Champa
Sharma, Ashwini Magotra, Mohan Singh, Gian Singh
and Surjeet Singh besides their own compilation.
Ajit of Class 9th
bagged the first prize while Sarvan of Class 12th
and Priya of Class 12th clinched second and third
prizes respectively. Ajay of Class 12th claimed
the consolation prize.

Jandrahia, Shiv Mehta and Madan Padha were the
jury members during the contest.
Prof Lalit
Magotra, president of Dogri Sanstha, was the
chief guest while I S Jhelmeria, principal of
host School presided over the function.
Prof Magotra said
that contest was a part of ongoing Dogri Sanstha
campaign to popularize Dogri literature and
language among the young people and the rural
masses. He encouraged the young students to speak
their mother-tongue and read Dogri literature. He
also presented a set of about 100 books of Dogri
to the School library on the occasion.
