Shinde, Omar inaugurate Sewa project

KATHUA,
Sept 29: Describing
power development as nerve line in the sustained
economic development and industrialization, Chief
Minister, Omar Abdullah today said that his
Government has flagged this sector as one of the
most important concerns.
Jointly
inaugurating 120 MW Sewa Hydel Project with Union
Minister for Power, Sushil Kumar Shinde at
village Mashka, about 40 kms from Basholi in this
district today, Omar said that multi-faceted
approach has been introduced to harness hydro
electric potential of the State.
"We are
striving for power projects in PPP mode, as joint
ventures, in the State sector and with NHPC to
give new dimension to the power generation in the
State", he said adding that upgradation and
improvement in the distribution and transmission
system is also one of the priorities of the
Government.
The Chief Minister
said that various power projects with the
generation capacity of about 4000 MWs have been
conceived by the State Power Development
Corporation and are at various stages of
execution at present. "Our endeavour is to
generate sufficient energy for the industrial
development, commercial use besides household
utilization", he added.
Omar expressed
gratitude to the Union Government for the liberal
financial assistance to the State to help boost
power generation. He said NHPC is associated with
the State in construction and completion of
various projects in the Central sector and
expressed hope that the power projects under
implementation at present would be completed
within the prescribed timeline.
Speaking on the
occasion, Union Power Minister, Sushil Kumar
Shinde lauded Omar Abdullahs dynamism and
innovative approach to fast track the development
process in the State and bring about healthy
economic transformation.
Shinde said the
Union Government would extend its all help to the
State Government in its endeavour to harness
maximum power potential. "NHPC is already
constructing various projects in the State and we
would like to extend our cooperation in the
future too", he said.
The Union Minister
said under the leadership of Prime Minister Dr
Manmohan Singh and UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi,
India has progressed in all fields of life.
"Power generation is receiving priority
attention in the development process" he
said adding that there has been tremendous
development in power sector during the tenures of
UPA Government.
He said four ITIs
are run by NHPC in the State to train the local
youth in electricity related trades.
"Another ITI will be established in the
State soon to enhance the training imparting
capacity", he added.
The Parliament
Member, Lal Singh in his speech welcomed the
Chief Minister and the Union Minister and
expressed gratitude for inaugurating the Sewa
Hydel Power Project. He said that the project
would not only provide additional electricity but
help in a big way to generate economic activities
in the backward areas of Basohli.
The 120 MW Sewa-II
has been constructed by the NHPC at a cost of Rs.
1061 crore. The dam of the power project is
situated at village Ghatti about 80 Kms. from
Basholi in Kathua district and 150 kms from
Lakhanpur. The Power Station is at village Mashka
at the junction of river Ravi and Sewa tributary.

Ministers should step down: Harshdev

JAMMU,
Sept 29: Holding
ruling dispensation responsible for hostile
discrimination against the people of Jammu
region, working chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir
National Panthers Party, Harshdev Singh (MLA),
has said that Ministers from Jammu region should
step down as they have proved utter failure in
safeguarding and protecting the interests of the
Jammu people.
Addressing a press
conference along with MLAs Balwant Singh Mankotia
and Yash Pal Kundal here today, Harshdev Singh
alleged that Jammu Ministers have totally
surrendered before the Kashmiri leadership and
they have lost moral authority to continue in the
office. He made particular mention of the recent
episode wherein a package had been announced by
the Centre for those killed during anti-India
protests.
While questioning
the criminal silence on the part of Jammu
Ministers over the denial of ex-gratia to the
next of kin of those killed during Shri Amarnath
land row, Harshdev Singh charged the Jammu
Ministers with succumbing to the dictates of
their Kashmiri bosses and failing to ensure even
the implementation of agreement already signed by
Government. He said even not a single Minister
from Jammu raised this voice.
The NPP leader
alleged that Jammu region was subjected to most
hostile discrimination by the present
dispensation in all spheres including devolution
of funds, employment opportunities, admissions in
professional colleges, unequal assembly and
Parliament seats, road connectivity, tourism
promotion and in allied sectors notwithstanding
the fact that the Jammu contributes 76% of the
total tax collection of the State. He strongly
flayed the casual approach of the Jammu
Ministers.
Commenting on the
role of NPP in Assembly Session from tomorrow, he
claimed that his party will try to corner the
Government on many issues.

Agri
Technocrats to launch stir if demands
not conceded

JAMMU,
Sept 29: Jammu
and Kashmir Agricultural Technocrats Association
(JKATA) reiterated the demand of its
regularization for which the Chief Minister Omar
Abdullah and Advisor to CM, Murabak Gul, had
assured to look in to the demands of those,
working as Rehbar-e-Zarats.
Demanding for
immediate redressal of its regularization, for
which no policy was formulated till date, Jammu
and Kashmir Agricultural Technocrats Association,
president, Dr Surinder Radotra, while addressing
mediapersons, criticized the State Government for
its failure in keeping with its promise and
warned the Government that if they fail to frame
a policy in the coming Assembly session, then the
association will be compelled to launch Statewide
agitation for which the Government will be
responsible.
Dr Radotra along
with other members of the association lambasted
Government, which was playing with the career of
the youths of J&K. On one hand it is
announcing employment package and on other side
in agriculture sector especially technocrats were
being crushed and forced to starvation. It was
also disclosed that Rs 3000 pm be given to
agriculture technocrats in these days where
prices are touching sky high was gross injustice
with their cadre.
Others who
attended the press conference were Rajeev Sharma,
Maneet Singh, Harmeet Singh, Prakrit Singh, Yasir

Patwari
caught red-handed while accepting bribe

JAMMU,
Sept. 29:
State Vigilance Organization caught red
handed Nissar Hussain, Patwari Halqa Panjgran,
Rajouri while demanding and accepting a bribe of
Rs 3000 from the complainant Poonchi Ram for
effecting entry of mutation of land in revenue
record.
Poonchi Ram son of
Lal Dass of Patrara, Panjgran Rajouri lodged a
written complaint with P/S Vigilance Organisation
Jammu stating therein that the accused Nissar
Hussain son of Atta Mohammad of Fatehpur posted
as Patwari Halqa Panjgran, Rajouri demanded Rs
3000 as illegal gratification for effecting an
entry of land in the revenue record. The land was
gifted by the grandson of the complainant to his
sister out of his own share duly registered in
the Court of Sub Judge Rajouri.
On the basis of
complaint officials of State Vigilance
Organsiation laid a trap and accused Nissar
Hussain, Patwari Halqa Panjgran, Rajouri was
caught red handed while demanding and accepting
phenolphthalein dusted amount of Rs 3000 from the
complainant in the presence of witnesses. The
tainted bribe money was recovered from his
possession and the accused was taken into custody
for further investigations.
Meanwhile, State
Vigilance Organization produced challan against
Latief Ahmad Kakroo son of Late Ghulam Hassan of
Khawaja Sahib Baramulla, the then Judicial Clerk
(Jr. Asstt.) tehsil office South, Srinagar in the
Court of Special Judge Anti-Corruption Srinagar.
The case was
registered on the receipt of written complaint
lodged by Abdul Aziz Wani son of Ab Sattar Wani
of Hanjak Shariefabad, Budgam alleging therein
that he had some dispute with his neighbour
namely Fatah wife of Assadullah Wani who had
filed a complaint against him in the office of
Tehsildar (Executive Magistrate) South Circle
Srinagar.
The Tehsildar
(Executive Magistrate) acquitted the complainant
on January 15, 2010. The complainant applied for
the issuance of acquittal order which was marked
by Tehsildar to concerned Judicial Clerk namely
Lateef Ahmad Kakroo (accused) for necessary
action. The complainant produced the duly marked
application to the Judicial Clerk, who demanded a
bribe of Rs1000 for providing a certificate copy
of acquittal order in his favour. The Judicial
Clerk was caught red handed while demanding and
accepting Rs 1000 as bribe from the complainant.
Muslim
Federation appeals people for peace

JAMMU,
Sept 29: Muslim
Federation has appealed to all the communities in
the State to maintain peace, tranquility and
communal harmony and not to get provoked over the
verdict of the Lucknow bench of Allahabad High
Court regarding the Babri Masjid-Ramjanam Bhoomi
issue.
The appeal was
made by the Federation president, Abdul Majid,
while addressing a meeting of the Federation here
today. He said the legal and judicial system of
Indian democracy provides a complete mechanism to
the aggrieved party for seeking redressal of his
grievances instead of fighting the battle in
streets and weakening the social fabric of the
country.
He said there
should be no more politics on the issue of Babri
Masjid and Ram Janam Bhoomi as the country is
facing more serious challenges which require
immediate attention.
The Federation
laid stress upon the people to keep calm as it
would be open for the aggrieved party to approach
the Apex Court for further adjudication upon the
issue in case of an adverse decision.
Mr Majid said the
majority community of Jammu deserves all
appreciation for large hearted approach and
brotherly attitude towards Muslim minority in
Jammu. This brotherly atmosphere is threatened by
some anti national and anti-social groups. He
however opposed the tomorrows bandh call.
He said while
announcing any package for the State, the Centre
and State Governments should take care of the
interests of the Jammu and Ladakh regions of the
state that no heartburning should occur in any
region.

Court
awards life-imprisonment to BSF jawan for
killing wife, daughter

JAMMU,
Sept 29: Principal
Sessions Judge Samba, Suresh Kumar Sharma today
awarded life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 to
accused Uttam Kumar Gosh, a BSF jawan for
committing the murder of his wife and newly born
daughter.
According to the
prosecution case, on December 30, 2001, Police
Post Rakh Amb Tali received information with
regard to the incident. During investigation, it
came to fore that the accused as part of
premeditated plan took his brother-in-law Jayant
Gosh, who was also residing with him in the
rented house at Rakh Batali, to Amritsar for
getting him recruited.
He dropped Jayant
Gosh at Railway Station Amritsar on the pretext
that he was going to meet his higher officers and
asked him to wait at Railway Station till he
returns. Accused returned to Rakh on December 29,
2001 and strangulated his wife and newly born
daughter and then burnt them before fleeing from
the spot.
Later, he met his
brother-in-law at Railway Station Amritsar and
then they went to Delhi to meet the DIG. On
return to Samba on December 31, 2001, the accused
straightway took his brother-in-law to his
Battalion at Rakh Amb Tali. Later, he informed
Jayant Gosh that he had killed his wife and
daughter. The accused also made an extra-judicial
confession before his officers and colleagues as
to how he had killed the wife and daughter.
After hearing
Public Prosecutor Sukhdev Singh appearing for the
State and Advocate Subash Singh Sambyal appearing
for the accused, Principal Sessions Judge Samba,
Suresh Kumar Sharma held that prosecution has
succeeded in proving the charges against the
accused beyond reasonable shadow of doubt.
"The accused
has committed heinous offence in gruesome and
diabolical manner. This would in normal
circumstances warrants extreme sentence of death.
But in the instant case, Court thinks that the
lesser punishment of life-imprisonment would be
appropriate and proper in the interest of justice
for the reason that the instant case is based on
circumstantial evidence. Moreover, the accused
also made extra-judicial confession",
Principal Sessions Judge observed and awarded
life imprisonment to the accused.

scam of Military Farm
Court disagrees with CBI report, orders
further investigation

JAMMU,
Sept 29: In
a much publicized Skimmed Milk Powder scam of
Military Farm, the Special Judge Anticorruption
Jammu, A K Koul today disagreed with the closure
report of the Central Bureau of Investigation
(CBI) and ordered further investigation.
After more than 18
months long investigation into the Skimmed Milk
Powder scam, CBI filed closure report in the
Court of Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu, in
which CBI submitted, "from the evidence
available in this case it is established that
material was received by the Military Farms
Ferozpur, Ambala and Jallandhar directly from the
firm. The then Major presently Lt. Col Kuldeep
Singh and Milkhi Ram shown material dispatched
from Military Farm Jammu with the sole purpose to
take on record the Skimmed Milk Powder in their
documents, so that payment is adjusted by the
Military Farm Jammu, which were authorized to
procure consignments and adjust the payment to
the firms".
"The payments
have not been directly received by Military Farm
Jammu but book adjustment have been made. The
allegations that material of SMP to Military
Farms of Western Commands Ferozpur, Ambala and
Jallundhar were not dispatched and same were
misappropriated are not proved", the CBI
further said in its report.
After going
through the case and report filed by CBI, Special
Judge Anticorruption Jammu, A K Koul observed,
"the closure report as it cannot be
accepted, because it appears to be tailored to
suit some officers/officials. It was imperative
for the investigating officer to investigate the
matter thoroughly to ascertain the role of
officers/ officials of consignee locations and
also officer/ officials of consignor Military
Farm Jammu other then Major Kuldeep Singh and
Milkhi Ram, Assistant Supervisor before framing
an opinion as to whether offence was committed or
the matter could be settled with recommending an
administrative action".
With these
observations, the Court directed that the closure
report be returned to Investigating Officer for
further investigation. The IO would do so within
two months from now, the Court further directed.

More
organizations extend support to
todays Jammu bandh call

Sept 29: More
organizations have extended their full support to
tomorrows Jammu bandh call given by BJP and
others in protest against the discrimination with
Jammu region in the recently announced
Centres eight- point peace initiative on
Kashmir.
Panthers Party
while supporting tomorrows Jammu bandh call
has asked the people to join the bandh for
dismissal of Omar Abdullah Government and
imposition of Governors rule in the state.
The party supremo Prof Bhim Singh in a statement
issued here today has appealed to people of Jammu
as well as Kashmir Valley, particularly the youth
and the students to take active part in
tomorrows bandh to oppose, expose and
depose the corrupt, inefficient and anti people
Government.
Supporting the
bandh call Jammu Bar Association has decided to
suspend the work in all courts tomorrow in
support of the Jammu bandh call given by various
political and social organizations in protest
against the attempt to dilute Armed Forces
Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
The BJP bandh call
has also been supported by Sanatan Dharam Natak
Samaj. In a statement the president of the Samaj
Yudhvir Sethi said that it has decided to support
the bandh call as the issue is directly related
to Jammu province.
Students Scholar
Joint Action Committee has also extended its full
support to tomorrows Jammu bandh call. It
has appealed the students of all colleges to
boycott the classes tomorrow in support of the
Jammu bandh. The appeal was made in the meeting
of the Committee here today. It alleged that the
Government was totally silent on the problems of
the Dental College students, home guards jawans,
West Pak refugees, ITI diploma holders and other
sections of society in Jammu.
Jai Jawan Jai
Kissan Kandi Area Development Committee, Jammu
has also extended full support to tomorrows
Jammu bandh call. The Committee in its meeting
here today held under the chairmanship of Anil
Sharma said it will support any call given for
the cause of Jammu.
Main Road Digiana
Shopkeepers Association has also extended its
full support to tomorrows bandh call. This
was stated by the president of the Association,
Ravinder Singh alias Pappu in a statement here
today.
Jammu Kashmir
Vichar Manch (JKVM) has also extended its full
support to tomorrows Jammu bandh. The JKVM
senior leader, Ashok Kangan in a statement said
that Centre has once again failed to redress the
grievances of people of Jammu and Ladakh regions,
displaced people from the Valley, PoK and West
Pak refugees.
BJP Migrant Cell
and Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandits has also
extended full support to tomorrows bandh
call. In a meeting here today Ashwani Kumar
Chrungoo, president PK, H L Chatta, general
secretary ASKPC and D N Kissu president Non Camp
migrants endorsed the bandh call. The meeting
appealed the people to make the bandh a
resounding success in protest against the wrong
decisions of the Government of India regarding
J&K.

Hunger
stir of Dental students enters 6th day

JAMMU,
Sept 29: The
hunger strike of agitating students of
Indira Gandhi Government Dental College Jammu
entered 6th consecutive day today at
Administrative block of the College.
The Dental
Students were on hunger strike since last Friday
in support of their demands.
The discouraged
students alleged that due to callous attitude of
Government, budding dentists were suffering for
want of justice. They said that they have pleaded
to even Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad for
justice, but nothing has been done till today.
Pawan Singh
Jasrotia, students leader while talking to
Excelsior said the Government has conveyed
message that College got the recognition from
DCI, but demanded written documents and
compensation for students who suffered during the
last 50 days.
One of agitating
student said, the Minister for Technical
Education and Government officials were just
giving the assurance and no body has taken
initiative to meet the students who were on
hunger strike since Friday.
Meanwhile, Kranti
Dal supported the agitation of Dental students
and blamed the State and Central Government for
failing to meet the demands. Samarjeet Singh,
youth president of Dal has extended full support
to the cause and warned the Government of serious
consequences.
Meanwhile, the
indefinite strike of Dental students entered the
51st day today.

DIG Farooq Khan for working out blind murder of
Taxi driver Gurpreet Singh in most professional
manner, the Taxi Operators Union Railway Station
and J&K Transport Welfare Association has
demanded adequate security on highways.
Addressing a joint
press conference here today, chairman of the Taxi
Union Parkash Singh, president Davinder Choudhary
and Transport Welfare Associations chairman
Anil Chopra expressed gratitude to the SIT
officials for solving the blind murder of driver
and highway robbery case which took place on
Jammu-Katra road on the night of September 2.
They said the team led by SP Rural Mohan Lal SDPO
Nagrota Fazal Qureshi and DySP Katra and SHOs
from Nagrota, Katra and Jhajjar Kotli and others
made great efforts in solving the blind murder of
driver on highway and tracing the Punjab based
criminals. They managed to solve the case in most
professional manner within very short time and
police has again won the confidence of the
people.
They further
requested the IGP Jammu and IG Traffic to ensure
adequate security on Jammu-Srinagar-Pathankot,
JammuKatra and Jammu -Poonch highways
especially during odd hours by raising special
nakas so that such crimes could be curbed. They
also demanded that DC Jammu should fulfill his
promise by providing job to the brother of
deceased driver, Gurpreet Singh.

DGP
sanctions scholarships for 57 police
martyrs children

SRINAGAR,
Sept 29: Director
General of Police (DGP), Kuldeep Khoda, today
sanctioned scholarships in favour of 57 school
going children of deceased police personnel, who
laid down their lives for restoring normalcy in
the State and protected public property and human
lives.
These scholarships
were sanctioned during the monthly meeting of
Police Parivar Fund, held here today at Police
Headquarters (PHQ) under the chairmanship of
Director General of Police.
Addressing the
meeting, Mr. Khoda said that it is the prime
responsibility of Police Organization to take
care of the wards of colleagues who have
sacrificed their precious lives to uphold the
tradition of bravery of Jammu and Kashmir Police.
He said that the department has taken many steps
to provide financial assistance to these wards so
that they do not feel themselves deprived. He
said that besides providing scholarships, free
education is provided to them in Police Public
Schools established at Jammu, Srinagar and some
other districts in the State. He disclosed that
the department is considering some more welfare
schemes for the families of police martyrs,
serving and retired police personnel.
Giving details,
the DGP said that over Rs. 1.51 lakh have been
sanctioned in favour of 45 children of martyred
police personnel and 12 children of police
personnel who have died due to natural deaths.
The scholarships have been sanctioned for the
academic year 2009-10.
The scholarships
sanctioned among the wards, whose parents have
sacrificed their lives while fighting militancy
include Shahid Ali, Rafia Jan, Junaid, Rayees
Ahmed, Nusrat Fatima, Rifat Fatima, Sunil Singh,
Balbir Singh, Renu Devi, Nasir Hussain, Rahie
Hussain, Roonaq Hussain, Nasreena, Nadeem, Junaid

Cow
urine can prevent fungal disorders
in Gladiolus: Expert

JAMMU,
Sept 29: Fusarium
oxysporum a fungal disorder can be effectively
controlled by treating the Gladiolus corms with
10 per cent cow urine.
This was stated by
Dr Manoj Nazir a floriculture scientist here
today. Dr Nazir has also presented research
papers to this effect in various universities of
the country. He said an experiment on the effect
of cow urine on flowering and corm production in
Gladiolus were conducted at Floriculture Unit at
Directorate of Agriculture Jammu and other parts
of India also.
The latest paper
was read by him at Modipuram University Meerut
(UP).
He said Gladiouls
corms were dipped in cow urine of different
concentrations and from the experimental results
conducted by Dr Nazir it was revealed that
dipping the Gladiolus corms in 10 percent cow
urine for 24 hours resulted in early flowering,
maximum rachis length, maximum number of florets
per spike, maximum floret diameter which are
significant parameters of commercial cultivation
of Gladiolus.
He further said
that pre soaking of Gladiolus in cow urine
also prevents the crop from fungal diseases.
He said the

SRINAGAR,
Sept 29: Divisional
Commissioner, Kashmir, Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon
today booked four persons under Section (3) of
Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 and sent
them to Central Jail, Srinagar for a period of
one year.
The accused are
Wali Mohammed Bhat son of Abdul Majeed Bhat of
Reshipora, Awantipora (Pulwama), Ghulam Mohammed
Bhat son of Late Abdul Ganai Bhat of Reshipora
Ullar tehsil Awantipora, Shabir Ahmed Parray son
of Mohammed Kamal Parray of Charsoo, Katipora
Awantipora and Mukhtar Ahmed Bhat son of Ghulam
Rasool Bhat of Kunjipora, Pulwama.
All the four
accused were involved in Illicit Traffic in
Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances and
evidence was produced against them by
Superintendent of Police Awantipora.
Under the
Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs
and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1988 the Central
and State Governments are empowered to make
orders of detention with respect to any person,
including a foreigner, if they are of the opinion
that it is necessary so to do, with a view to
preventing them from committing illicit traffic
in narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances,
which includes cultivation of opium poppy or any
cannabis plant, or engaging in the production,
manufacture, possession, etc., of narcotic drugs
or psychotropic substance.
Under the Act,
drug traffickers can be detained for a period of
one to two years, so as to prevent them from
indulging in such illegal activities.
IIPA
holds lecture on "Reservation and Inclusive
Growth"

Sept 29: The
Indian Institute of Public Administration (IIPA),
J&K Regional Branch organised a lecture on
"Reservation and Inclusive Growth" in
the conference hall of Centre for Excellence in
Public Administration and Management Studies.
Dr Abha Chauhan,
HoD, Department of Sociology, University of Jammu
(JU) was the resource person on the occasion.
While delivering lecture, she emphasised that the
implementation of the reservation policy needs
more attention and zeal. She said that rapid and
sustained poverty reduction requires inclusive
growth that allows people to contribute and take
maximum benefits from economic growth.
Dr C M Seth, Vice
Chairman, IIPA, J&K Regional Branch presided
over the function. In his address, he thanked the
resource person for delivering such valuable
lecture and awared about reservation and
inclusive growth.
The lecture was
attended by large number of people including
Government officials, civil society members,
academicians and NGO members.
J B S Johar,
secretary, conducted the proceedings and Vikrant
Kuthiala presented the vote of thanks on the
occasion.

AIKS
warns against autonomy, more powers to state

JAMMU,
Sept 29: All
India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) has warned against
any move aimed at giving autonomy or more powers
to J&K.
Addressing a
meeting of the organization here today, its
president Moti Koul alleged that the eight point
plan announced by the Union Home Minister, P
Chidambaram lacks any soothing touch to the
Kashmiri Pandits community despite the Pandits
being the main sufferers and victims of religious
discrimination and onslaught leading to genocide,
ethnic cleansing and total extinction.
He said that the
Kashmir problem cant find a durable
solution unless Kashmiri Pandits, being
indigenous representatives of a 5000 year old
history, are part of the negotiations and
dialogue as equal stake holders.
Declaring Kashmir
as an integral and indispensable part of India Mr
Kaul informed that October 26 is the important
day for Kashmiri Pandits as on this day the
Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the instrument of
Accession with India.
He said AIKS will
observe this day with great fanfare as it wants
to send a clear message to the world that
Kashmirs accession with India is a fact of
history and is irrevocable. An effort will be
made to ensure the participation of non Kashmiri
Pandits and other patriotic forces also. To
involve the larger civil society of India to
defeat the anti-national forces is the main idea
behind it, he added.
Mr Kaul also
briefed about the recent Indo -European Kashmir
Forum conference held in London and said that KPs
living abroad are equally concerned about the
present mess created by separatists and the
appeasement policy of the Government.

K Raina ex Director Education was appointed as
vice president of AIKS for J&K by Mr Kaul.

College holds symposium on
"New Blood for the World"

The NSS unit of Government MAM College
organised symposium on topic "New Blood for
the World" here today.
Dr T R Raina, HoD
Blood Transfusion and Medicines, GMC Jammu, was
the chief guest while Principal Dr Ajeet Angral
presided over the function.
While speaking, Mr
Raina highlighted the importance of blood
donation and cleared many doubts and myths about
it. He appealed the students to voluntarily
donate blood for the sake of general masses.
Dr Ajeet Angral
advised the volunteers to carry the message of
significance of blood donation.
Ishtiaq Ahmed
secured the first position in the contest while
second and third prize was received by Saneet
Bhagat and Anshul Gupta.

members on the occasion.

Billawar, here today.

Kumar as vice president, Rakesh Sharma as general

Theatre organized a play reading of Mohan
Singhs new Dogri play
"Dharam at K L Saigal Hall here.
On the occasion,
Savita Bakshi Additional Secretary J&K
Academy of Art , Culture and Languages was the
chief guest.
In her address she
welcomed the new play in Dogri which she said
will fulfill the dearth of Dogri plays. While
appreciating the play content and form she
expressed hope that the play will definitely
staged in near future by theatre groups.
The play Dharam is
based on the degradation of values in the middle
class and other classes as well. But the writer
has tried to portrait the tragedy of middle class
who witnesses everything with regard to the
socio-political exploitation but they remain mute
spectators as the writer wants to convey and
communicate that religion and worship of the God
is the belief.
The welcome
address was made by Dr Sudhir Mahajan. The play
was read by noted theatre artists Kulvir Singh
Charak, Aryaveer Singh, Natya Paul Singh,
Inderjeet Singh Sambyal and Aditya Bharti.

EJAC
flays Govt for delay in meeting demand

Sept 29: J&K
Employees Joint Action Committee has strongly
criticized the State Government for not releasing
the 6th Pay Commission arrears of the employees.
In a meeting of
the EJAC held here today under the chairmanship
of Jaswant Singh, the speakers expressed serious
concern over the delay being caused by the
government to honour its commitment. They said
the three months time given by the Chief Minister
to announce road map for the release of Pay
Commission arrears is already over. Moreover,
Government has done nothing regarding
regularization of ad hoc, daily rated/
contractual employees, removal of pay anomalies
and enhancement of retirement age.
They demanded
immediate attention of the Chief Minister towards
the issue. Others present in the meeting included
Balwinder Singh, Ravi Singh Bhau, Dev Anand Gill,
Kulwant Singh, Dharminder Singh and S S Sudan.
