Jammu Ministers should step down: Harshdev

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 29: Holding ruling dispensation responsible for hostile discrimination against the people of Jammu region, working chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Harshdev Singh (MLA), has said that Ministers from Jammu region should step down as they have proved utter failure in safeguarding and protecting the interests of the Jammu people.

He said even not a single Minister from Jammu raised this voice.

The NPP leader alleged that Jammu region was subjected to most hostile discrimination by the present dispensation in all spheres including devolution of funds, employment opportunities, admissions in professional colleges, unequal assembly and Parliament seats, road connectivity, tourism promotion and in allied sectors notwithstanding the fact that the Jammu contributes 76% of the total tax collection of the State. He strongly flayed the casual approach of the Jammu Ministers.

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 29: Principal Sessions Judge Samba, Suresh Kumar Sharma today awarded life-imprisonment and fine of Rs 5000 to accused Uttam Kumar Gosh, a BSF jawan for committing the murder of his wife and newly born daughter.

Moreover, the accused also made extra-judicial confession", Principal Sessions Judge observed and awarded life imprisonment to the accused.

AIKS warns against autonomy, more powers to state

Excelsior Correspondent

JAMMU, Sept 29: All India Kashmiri Samaj (AIKS) has warned against any move aimed at giving autonomy or more powers to J&K.

Addressing a meeting of the organization here today, its president Moti Koul alleged that the eight point plan announced by the Union Home Minister, P Chidambaram lacks any soothing touch to the Kashmiri Pandits community despite the Pandits being the main sufferers and victims of religious discrimination and onslaught leading to genocide, ethnic cleansing and total extinction.

He said that the Kashmir problem can’t find a durable solution unless Kashmiri Pandits, being indigenous representatives of a 5000 year old history, are part of the negotiations and dialogue as equal stake holders.

Declaring Kashmir as an integral and indispensable part of India Mr Kaul informed that October 26 is the important day for Kashmiri Pandits as on this day the Maharaja Hari Singh had signed the instrument of Accession with India.

An effort will be made to ensure the participation of non Kashmiri Pandits and other patriotic forces also. To involve the larger civil society of India to defeat the anti-national forces is the main idea behind it, he added.
