SRINAGAR, Nov 6: National Conference (NC) has shifted its Chief Ministerial candidate Dr Farooq Abdullah from Ganderbal to Hazratbal Assembly segment and released names of 65 of its candidates for remaining five phases of polling in 16 districts in Jammu & Kashmir. While the party's mandate has gone to 15 former Ministers, NC has introduced 32 new faces with near-total replacement in the PDP-dominated south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama and Shopian....more

SRINAGAR, Nov 6: Government today enforced undeclared curfew in entire Kashmir valley in order to fail the separatist Coordination Committee's call of 'Jamia Masjid Chalo' for paying homage to members of Muslim community killed in the communal riots of Jammu in 1947. The conglomerate of different political, religious and other Kashmiri organizations---including both factions of the separatist Hurriyat Conference---had planned to organize such an event in the Valley for the first time in the last 60 years.....more
