Tirth yatra
Sir,
Shail Gulati has
described Tirth Yatra ( DE May, 4 ) so
beautifully and comprehensively that one gets
enchanted by his simple yet perfect and lucid
style. It is well known that T Y (Tirth yatra) is
regarded reverently in every religion, region,
sect and sub sect . The solace one gets out of T
Y actually exists in the mind of devotee ,which
becomes activated during course of yatra. One
gets peace of mind, contentment and extra
ordinary strength to overcome the vigils of hard
and tough journey gracefully which ordinarily
could not be performed by him.
I have seen a
Sadhu limping on one leg (whose other leg was
amputated long back ) moving ahead of others . On
asking him I came to know that he was performing
Amarnath Yatra every year since last few decades.
One cannot ,but
agree that he gets extraordinary strength due to
his devotion and firm faith in Lord Shiva. One
often comes across persons walking bare foot or
even crawling along the belly to reach Vaishno
Mata. Where does this strength come from ? the
answer is simple "From within".
Although God is
everywhere yet we cannot deny the fact that we
get immense peace through these yatras. They
serve the purpose of picnic as well as pacify our
soul so much so that sometimes complete
transformation of our innerself takes place which
may enlighten us spiritually.

Stop criminals
Sir,
The State is
already braving militancy. In Jammu we have been
witness to criminal activities in which criminal
gangs are engaged with war with each other. They
indulge in killing or murderous assault. They
have developed a nefarious nexus of exhortation
and other illegal activities.
In this regard a
news report was published in this paper about
thre criminals detained under PSA (May 4). It
needs to be ensured by the security forces and
the police in particular that such people are
controlled and their activities stopped. These
criminals make life difficult for the people and
threaten peace. The police should launch an
allout campaign against these criminals so that
they are brought to book.
The sadder part of
the story about these criminals is that despite
the fact that they are involved in murders or
attempt to murder or criminal assault we see them
moving scot free on bail etc. The police must
ensure that these hardcore criminals remain in
jails for a considerable period of time so that
people heave a sigh of relief.

Waiting in the wings
Sir,
A news report was
published titled, ''Heavy presence of militants
across Sunderbani (DE, May 4)''.
Despite the best
efforts that the security forces are putting in,
it seems that there will be no respite for them
and the people of the State so far as the
militancy is concerned. We have to take notice of
the fact that there are many improbables which
will dictate the course of militancy in the
State. The most important improbable is the
attitude of the new Government in Pakistan
towards the militancy in the State. We have to
see the situation in real perspective and not
rush on filmsy promises of weak impulse.
The new
dispensation in Pakistan even though in the last
of scenario will be in a tight rope to deal with
the terror. And the war on terror against India
is not on their priority list. They are engaged
in a war like situation at the western border
while the security forces of Pakistan are engaged
in a combat with terror elements of Al-Qaida etc.
Here they are under tremendous American pressure
and it will not be so light to dismiss this
position. Secondly the present political frame
work in Pakistan is a stop gap measure because
the coalition partners are not political partners
but political rivals and in their long term
strategy to control power of their own they would
never like to antagonise people of 'other shades'
and who are important. Thirdly we should not
forget that under the very nose of the rulers in
Pakistan a broad based meeting of terrorists
under Salahudin was held which has decided to
continue war on India with new vigour.
Thus the
newsreport assumes greater importance. We need to
adopt tough measures against those who tend to
disturb the improving situation in the State. In
shotwords summer will bring in greater pressure
on security forces who we all know well will do
their job ably.
Yours etc...
