JAMMU, Mar 29: The 4th All India Census of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is being conducted in Jammu division at the instance of Government of India. This was informed by Director, Industries and Commerce Jammu Pradeep Gupta.

All the registered/those enterprises who have filed the entrepreneurs memoranda with the department will be surveyed. The enumerators authorized by the Directorate of Industries and Commerce will approach the enterprises for data collection during March-June, 2008.

Mr Gupta informed that information on production, raw materials, fuels, employment, exports, fixed assets, plant and machinery/equipment, products/services, net worth loan taken by the enterprises and outstanding with them and a few classificatory characteristics would be collected in the 4th Census. An assessment of sick and incipiently sick Micro and Small Enterprises would also be made through the census data.

Director industries and Commerce has issued an appeal requesting all the concerned entrepreneurs to co-operate fully and furnish accurate information to the enumerators. The information collected in the 4th census will be kept confidential and will be used only for statistical purposes.

The entrepreneurs of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises registered permanently or who have filed entrepreneurs memoranda till March 31, 2007 may get in touch with the General Managers of the concerned DICs or Deputy Director (P&S) in the Directorate of Industries and Commerce Jammu in case no enumerator approaches the unit for data collection during the census period.

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: The wholesale sugar market ruled steady today as prices moved in a narrow range in the absence of worthwhile buying support and settled unchanged.

Marketmen said adequate stock positions against sporadic demand mainly kept prices unchanged.

Following were today quotations per quintal:

Sugar ready M-30 1600-1675 and S-30 1575-1650.

Mill delivery M-30 1440-1560 and S-30 1430-1550.

Sugar mill gate prices (excluding duty): Modi Nagar 1515,Bagpat 1450, Daurala 1540, Chandpur 1355, Titabi 1600, Mawana 1575, Simbhawali 1585 Khatauli 1600, Badaiun 1355, Sattha 1340, Ruderavilash 1360, Bijnor 1495, Amroha 1500 and Samali Rs 1530. (PTI)

Gur price rules flat

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Gur prices remained flat in Delhi in the wholesale gur (jaggery) market here today while gur pedi in Muradnagar edged up on stockists buying.

In Muradnagar, gur pedi prices attracted stockists attention against paucity of stocks and gained Rs 10 to Rs 1,050-1,075 a quintal.

Marketmen said stockists buying against restricted arrival led to rise in gur pedi prices in Muradnagar.

Following were today's quotations:

Chakku 1300-1350, Pedi 1250-1300 and Dhayya 1225-1250. Shakkar 1350-1400 and Khandsari 1500-1550.

In Muzaffar Nagar: Raskat 950-1025, chakku 1125-1250 and Khurpa 1025-1050.

In Muradnagar: Pedi 1050-1075, Dhayya 1050-1075. (PTI)

Wheat price eases on poor demand

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Wheat dara price declined by Rs 15 a quintal in the wholesale grains market here today due to increased arrivals along with poor offtake.

However, other grain prices after moving in narrow range on some buying and selling interest, pegged on last levels.

Marketmen said fall in buying support from rolling flour mills and atta chakkies, largely brought down wheat prices.

Wheat dara price looked down from Rs 1130-1135 to close at Rs 1120-1125 a quintal on withdrawal of support.

Rolling flour mills price finished lower from Rs 1125-1128 at Rs 1115-1120 a 90 kilo bag on sluggish demand.

Chakki atta delivery price also fell from Rs.1128-1130 to Rs 1118-1122 a 90 kilo bag.

Maida and sooji price too slipped to settle at Rs 1200-1225 and Rs 1225-1250 instead of Rs 1215-1240 and Rs 1240-1275 a 90 kilo bag respectively. (PTI)

 

Steel price remains flat on some support

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Steady conditions developed in the local iron and steel market here today following restricted supply against reduced offtake.

Marketmen said small buying interest along with restricted supply, mainly kept the prices around last levels.

PNB launches cancer detection camp

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Public sector lender Punjab National Bank today launched a cancer detection camp in the capital here today, as a step towards corporate social responsibility by fighting against the disease.

The camp organised in association with Indian Cancer Society was inaugurated by the bank’s Chairman and Managing Director K C Chakraborty.

"Bank, as an institution, has a vested interest in the society. If people of the society are healthy and wealthy, it would automatically translate into larger business for banks," said Chakraborty.

The bank has earlier organised 35 other cancer detection camps where about 1,473 men and 746 women were examined, he informed. (PTI)

NHPC commissions all 3 units of Teesta-V

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: State-run National Hydroelectric Power Corp today said it has commissioned all the three units of 510 MW Teesta Stage-V Hydroelectric Project in Sikkim.

Two of the three units of 170 MW each are expected to become commercially operational shortly, while the first unit is already functional, the company said in a statement.

The project would generate 2,573 million units of energy annually. The cost of the project is about Rs 2,650 crore and the provisional tariff approved by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission is Rs 1.62 per unit.

Teesta-V is one of the six hydro projects identified for execution by NHPC in Sikkim. The company has added 1,420 MW of generation capacity in the last one year with the commissioning of 390 MW Dul Hasti project in Jammu and Kashmir, 520 MW Omkareshwar project in Madhya Pradesh, and Teesta-V.

The run-on-river Teesta-V project would benefit states of Bihar, Orissa, Jharkhand, West Bengal and Sikkim. (PTI)

Black pepper prices closed at Rs 15,700-15,800 per quintal on stockists amid restricted arrivals from Kerala.

Gold plunges on weak global trend

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Gold and silver tumbled in the bullion market here today on heavy selling by stockists, triggered by weak global cues amid end of the marriage and festival season.

Standard gold and ornaments lost Rs 110 each to Rs 12,230 and Rs 12,180 (RPT) Rs 12,180 per 10 gram respectively. The gold had suffered a loss of Rs 60 in the previous day’s trading. Sovereign also lost Rs 25 to Rs 9,925 per piece of eight gram.

Marketmen said the selling pressure gathered momentum on reports of the precious metal falling sharply for the second straight session in the overseas markets.

They said end of the marriage season also led to the fall in prices.

Silver joined the weakening trend and surrendered further ground on selling pressure. Silver ready fell by Rs 660 to Rs 22,990 per kg. It had lost Rs 50 in previous day’s trading. Silver weekly-based delivery also fell by Rs 620 to Rs 22,980 per kg.

Silver coins dropped by Rs 200 to Rs 26,500 for buying and Rs 26,600 for selling of 100 pieces. (PTI)

Almond prices move up on poor arrival

NEW DELHI, Mar 29: Almond California prices shot up by Rs 100 in the wholesale dry fruit market today on poor arrival from overseas markets against increased demand from local parties and stockists.

However, prices of other commodities remained unchanged on some enquiries.

Almond California quoted higher by Rs 100 at Rs 8,600 per 40 kg and its kernel dearer at Rs 300-301 against the previous level of Rs 303-304 a kg.

Bata India net at Rs 47 cr; up 18 pc

KOLKATA, Mar 29: The net profit of Bata India for the year ended December 31, 2007, stood at Rs 47.4 crore as compared to Rs 40.1 crore in the previous year, registering a rise of 18.15 per cent.

Total income of the company during the period stood at Rs 890.8 crore as against Rs 797.3 crore in the same period previous year.

Bata India managing director Marcelo Villagran said that improved financial performance was a result of sustained efforts made by the company.

He said that the company was on an aggressive growth path and had implemented forward looking initiatives like investments in large format stores.

Towards this, Bata had adopted an ambitious strategy of opening 70 stores every year for the next few years.

The board declared a dividend of 20 per cent, inclusive of five per cent additional dividend. (PTI)
