Nature beckons
us
Sir,
Nowday's we see
people of all shapes and shades of life enjoying
their morning walk. Indeed it is a sort of
thanksgiving to the great almighty for giving us
another bright day after the dark night. This is
more true for people of J&K State which has
been experiencing terrorism since more than a
decade.
Jammu is blessed
with three decent and popular places for morning
walk. These are Manda Hill, Univ. Campus and the
walkways along the Ranbir Canal. It is a pleasure
to watch people of different ages and physical
structure stretching their limbs and inhaling
fresh air and enjoying the beauty of nature. We
try to keep overselves physically fit and healthy
by engaging in yoga and other exercises before we
commence our professional day.
Besides helping us
to maintain physical fitness an early morning
walk also can be gainfully utilised to plan ones
daily priorities to achieve maximum out of our
professional assignments. However it saddens my
heart when the virgin beauty of the silent early
morning is disturbed by shrill and loud voices of
fellow human beings discussing every possible
topic under the sun. My sincere and humble
request to all these friends would be to enjoy
and let others enjoy the bounties of mother
nature at its best. Let us enjoy the sounds of
silent nature, the sounds of chirping of birds,
without any external disburbance. My request is
also towards the Loud Laughter Forum to refrain
from laughing at such places since it disburbs
the delicate inhabitants of our nature. In fact I
have seen the birds frightened due to uncalled
for onslaught of human behaviour. Laughter is
certainly good for health but not at the cost of
disturbance to the actual inhabitants of nature!
Same applies to my friends who discuss loudly
every thing. I am sure even God shall not condone
such undesirable behaviour of his children.
Let us all enjoy
the gifts of nature in its pristine and
undisturbed glory.
Yours etc...

Hockey in distress
Sir,
Recent unfortunate
defeat of Indian Hockey team in the hands of
Britain in the Qualifying matches for Beijing
Olympics 2008 is not the true picture of our
present hockey team. Being a lover of Indian
hockey and in constant touch with the Indian
hockey team from the time when India was denied
for the first time berth in final of World
Olympic 1968 from that Olympic to date, Indian
Hockey has won only two important events. First
was World Cup of 1975 under the captainship of
Ajit Paul Singh and second was the dented Moscow
World Olympic of 1984 (A lackluster Olympic) when
top European teams boycotted that Olympic. No
doubt India has tried hard to regain the lost
glory but has failed so far to turn the tables
its side. Despite producing good players like
Jaffer, Shahid, Pargat, and so many, every time
team India failed to produce results. This time
India is all time low in Hockey that it has been
thrown out of Beijing Olympics which never
happened in the history of Hockey game. It is
really a great shock for Indian Hockey lovers
because this time in Beijing our Olympic
contingent would just be considered as negligible
one with out our hockey boys. It is the time to
bear the shock and is a matter of time, take sure
that our present Hockey team is down for the
moment but not in any way out. It is not true
that they brought shame for India as publicised.
There is no need to down their heads in shame or
to be treated as inferior to any Hockey team in
world. For the last one year our performance
against Korea, Pakistan, European Hockey teams
and even in qualifying matches except against
Britain shown that Indian Hockey is still alive
and our present team has the capacity and skill
to beat any top team of the world. The only need
is some more hard work, sincere efforts on the
parts of Hockey managers of India. It is the time
not to condemn our hockey boys but to inject
morale boosting doses. It is the need of the hour
that every kind of Indian media to be positive
with our hockey boys who are in great distress at
this difficult time. Otherwise, it is really a
good team India has ever produced in the last
three decades.
Yours etc...
