Rise of Indian Cricket
Sir,
Under the
captainship of Mr M S Dhoni, team India created
history by trouncing the world champion
(Kangaroo) by 2-0 in One day Internation tri
series organised by CBT at Sydney.
The victory will
go down in the anology of ODI matches for very
long time to come and remembered by cricket
lovers/Fans through out the world.
The hype and
hoopla of Kangaroo's superiority in the
department of the game of cricket has been
shattered and their team beaten hallow with the
instillation of team spirit and generation of
discipline in the young cricket team of India.
The team, as such, deserves kudos in general, its
bowlers and captain in particular.
The sheet
anchoring role of Sachin Tendulkar (Master
Blaster) can not be lost sight of who scored
unbeaten 91 runs with Robin Uthapa, Yuvraj, and
M.S Dhoni to carry it to a safe lavel of 255. It
is unfortunate that cricket fans and Media start
criticising and raising hackles on senior players
if and when they meet providential failure to
score up scurry of runs. They forget, for the
moment, the mettle of Sachin who has piles of
records in ODIS and Tests alike. They, also fail
to give credit to the highly successful and
effective captaincy of Saurav and defensive wall
like batting of Dravid.
Nontheless, the
future of the Indian Cricket is safe in the hands
of youngsters. To boot, it is, indeed a matter of
great honour for Indians in particular and Asian
in general that our maestro star (Little Master)
is ranked No. 1 by ICC in One Day International.

Caught in own web
Sir,
The recent
bombings in Pakistan point to yet another period
of gloom and destruction. After the elections in
Pakistan which were widely accepted to be by and
large free and fair more than a hundred people
have been killed in terror related violence.
Pakistan, which
incidently is our next door neighbour has been
caught in its own web. Since the tragic
assasination of Benazir Bhutto Pakistan has been
in a state of flux. Terrorist have come down upon
the society with a vengence. The Army is engaged
in a mortal battle with large number of
seperatists and Jihadis in FATA, Swat, Wazirstan
and Balouchistan. Thousands of Pak troops are
scattered in these areas.
Internally the
situation is fluid. Despite a political maturity
shown by PPP and PML (N) there is a virtual
battle of sorts going to take place between
President Musharraf and the new Government.
Musharraf has already indicated his desire to
continue and has made it clear that there could
be a showlown if political alliance does not work
with him. Apart from political future the country
has now been found off guard. Those very
terrorists whom it created and fed on vicious
propaganda of a grandiose Jihad against India
have now turned their weapons upon Pakistan
itself. The bloodshed is for everybody to see.
One thing is clear. You cannot burn neighbour's
house and hope. Yours will be safe. Eventually
the fire will engulf you also. Unfortunately
Pakistan has not learned the basic lessons of
neighbourly relations and matured politics. That
is the reason why the country is at present at
war with itself. Hope sanity returns to Pakistan
soon.
Yours etc...

Effective policing
Sir,
In a matured
democratic set one of the most important plank is
security. How a democratic country in particular
ensures the security of its citizens determines
its success.
When it comes to
security police automatically comes to our mind.
The role of police in any society is
indespensable. After all how free a society is
from crime and violence is a direct determinator
of its efficacy. Here the vital role of police
comes to our mind. The peace and law and order
maintenance squarely falls on police. How
efficient police prevents crime or how speedily
it solves the crime is a measure of the
effectiveness of the police.
Policing in our
state has assumed greater role compared to other
states. For the last twenty years the state has
faced the onslaught of militancy. This has made
the job of police even more difficult. The shift
naturally is difficult. Here the police has to
maintain a balance between combating terror
related crimes and usual crimes like theft, riot
etc. Despite being under a heavy work load the
state police gave a good account of itself. In
many cases it has solved a case within hours. The
way a theft case in Shankar Vihar falling under
Talab Tillo police station was solved within a
matter of hours and stolen valuable recovered
(DE, Mar 8) is a testimony to the growing
capabilities of police. But under the present
scenario when criminals are using newer methods
to commit crimes the state police has to be
equipped with state of art technology. Besides
mobile squads which are already there have to be
increased in number and their mobility too has to
be rationalised and increased. With the large in
place of migrant labourers in the state the
chances of hard core criminals entering the State
are more. The State police has to gear itself
with the challenges of future so that crime is
controlled in a better way.
Yours etc....
