Make country corruption free
Sir,
Life is a
continuous search for happiness. Happiness can be
achieved by adopting honesty as the best policy
i.e honesty is the prerequisite for achieving
happiness. Corruption is the process of acquiring
material/monetary benefits by dishonest and
illegal means.
Corruption is that
demon in the society which needs to be
vanquished. The deeds of the corrupt person need
to be condemned as most disgusting, disgraceful
and highly deplorable. Corrupt practices should
attract the most stringent punishment, so as the
refrain others from adopting the same means. It
needs to be underlined that ill gotten wealth can
never give success or happiness to any body.
We should remember
the saying of Shri Ramkrishna that ''Money is the
root of all the disasters we see in the world.
Money can lure one's mind into other temptations.
Beware'' No religion and society in the world
approves of corrupt practices of life.
Once it has been
established that corruption is that evil in the
society which needs to be eradicated, let us
examine that possible measures for the same:-
The political
system, politicians and high ranking officials
should be persons of high patriotic and moral
values and unimpeachables moral character. Indeed
they should be the trendsetters of upholding the
highest values of honesty and dedication to their
assignments.
It is normally
observed that corruption starts from the top
seeps through the bottom. Therefore, only honest
and upright top seniors officers can expect
dedicated and honest subordinates.
Just as there are
two sides of every coin, so also the
society/world consists of good and civil people.
As such, persons adopting corruption practices
for advancement of life should be dealt with
severe punishment which is a deterrent to others.
It is also
necessary to instill the fear of God in every
individual.
The employment
problem should be trackled on the basis of one's
educational qualification jobs should be directly
related to it. The salary should be demarcated on
the basis of qualification in a uniform manner.
As corruption
breeds on account of attachment to materialistic
things the concept of simple living and high
thinking has to be advocated. Further every job
should provide basic amenities so that the very
thought of making money by dishonest means is
curbed.
Thus if we are
able to weed out corruption from our lives it
would truly be a world worth living as also
making people enjoy the fruits of honest labour.

Air pollution
Sir,
Air pollution is
the major health problems in our city Jammu. The
motor vehicles like trucks, buses, cars,
scooters, motorcycles, Autos etc are responsible
for the increasing air pollution. The common air
pollutants are soot, dust, oxides of nitrogen,
sulphur dioxide, carbon monoxide and
hydrocarbons. Air pollution shortens the life
span and lowers the quality of life, especially
that of children.
Attempts should be
made to control air pollution. We should try to
improve the transport system.
Devices that trap
the pollutants before they escape into the
atmosphere can be used to decrease pollution.
CNG (Compressed
Natural Gas) is an environmental friendly fuel.
It is not only cheaper but also gives better
mileage. It is soot free and prolongs the life of
an engine. CNG should be made mandatory for all
public buses taxis, autos etc.
Air pollution is a
pressing problem and we have to try our best to
solve it.

Civic Sense
Sir,
Civic sense is the
bed rock of any country, if we see that is the
level of development of its citizens.
Civic sense makes
it eminently clear the level of commitment that
people have towards their country, State or city.
Many human activities come within the purview of
civil sense. But sadly, we have not been educated
enough to develop civil sense. We can boast that
we have thousands of colleges and hundreds of
Universities in our country but we can never
impress others with our level of civic sense.
Tourists, who have travelled to the country have
always been left agape at the appalling absence
of civic sense in the country.
Same is the case
within our own state. Take the case of our own
city. Famously called City of Temples we
Jammuites have to learn the rudimentary elements
of civic sense. We would strain our muscle of
ours to see that the interior of our homes are
clean but would without qualms leave or throw the
litter and garbage outside our homes little
caring that outside our houses also constitute
our own environment.
Similarly if we go
to any park or any place of recreation we would
never use the dustbins if they are there but
would pride to throw litter on the roads or at
any convenient place. In banks or other places
when people have to stand in the queue we always
avoid standing in a queue but instead jostle and
makea crowd. We shove and push each other.
In short we may be
highly educated but sans civic sense we are not
giving a good account of ourselves. The need is
to inculcate civic sense which will make life
better and peaceful.
Yours etc...
