Filling up vacancies
Sir,
A news report was
published in the paper (Mar 3) about thousands of
vacancies in the Government Departments.
The news report is
surprising because if there are thousands of
vacancies in the State, to be previse about
thirty three thousand vacancies are to be filled
in by the Government, according to this report.
Further there are about five thousand Gazetted
posts to be filled up, which are lying vacant in
the State. In this context it is important that
the Govt should fill up the posts that are lying
vacant. Already there are thousands of candidates
who are on the verge of getting overaged. The
Govt has to find ways and means of getting some
gainful employment for these people.
Another point that
demands our attention is that there are thousands
of vacancies that have been left unfulfilled due
to the retirement of migrant employees. It is
worth mentioning that very few candidates from
displaced community from the valley have been
employed. In order to maintain and create a stake
for these people in the valley the Govt. ought of
launch a special drive of recruitment so that the
ratio that the ratio that these people had in the
State Govt. Departments is restored. Further in
absence of requisite staff it has to be
understood that administration suffers and
becomes ineffective. Hence it is important that
the Govt. should fill up thousands of vacancies
that are laying vacant.

Develop scientific spirit
Sir,
The State has many
positive things that God has bestowed upon it.
There are beautiful places in the State. There
are many holy places too in the State. We have
natural resources. But our greatest resource is
the younger generation.
The best way to
create this precious human resource is to empower
these young boys and girls with education.
Education has to be such so that it enables them
to be able to develop a scientific temper and
spirit. In general term we use this word quite
often but many times the real passport of this
term spaces our notice. What really is scientific
temper and spirit. Is to the discard all over
social cum cultural activities or is to something
else? It needs to be debated upon. In normal and
usual parlance it may mean to deride our
traditional way to life, our beliefs and social
mores but in reality that is not scientific
spirit. The children and younger generation have
to be given an education that develops in then an
urge to know. That develops in them a spirit of
inquiry. They should be able to question, why it
is this way? Why does it happen? And then they
have to be encouraged to start finding answers.
Such spirit will
empower them to know the world better. It will
even help them to know the cause of strife and
ill will created by some people against the
society. That is why the fostering of scientific
spirit is essential.

Deoband directive
Sir,
The recently
concluded conclave of religious preachers and
heads of Islamic seminaries the country over in
Deoband have in a joint declaration decried
terror as anti Islam
Deoband is one of
the widely respected theological seat pertaining
to Islam in the subcontinent. For the last two
decades many terror organisations had openly said
that for their violent means and Jihad it was the
Deobandi thought that had inspired them to seek
to methods of terror to realise their ends. This
had put the Deoband seminary in a piquant
situation.
It was in this
regard that this important conclave was called
under the chancellorship of Maulana Madani a
widely respected Islamic scholar the world over.
A concern was voiced in the conclave about
creating an imaginary connection between Islam
and terror by terrorist and terror organisation.
By clearly decrying terror the Deoband directive
has done a great service to the nation. It has
further emphasised the need to be loyal to the
country. In the present context the all important
directive from such an important seat of theology
as Deoband has drawn praise from all people.
Definitely it will help promote peace in the
country.
Yours etc...
