Dada should have stayed
on
I
Sir,
The decision of
BCCI selectors committee to recall Dada Ganguly
from the one day series in Australia has been
received with shock by everybody in the country.
A strange habit
that has developed in the BCCI mindset is to cut
short the career of any great player. Ganguly has
scored more runs in one days in last year
compared to anyother Indian player. In Test
matches with a form and experience it is hard to
digest the reasons for Ganguly's non inclusion in
the ODI series. Dravid too should not have been
leftout of the coming series.
What pinched more
to cricket lovers this country is the timing of
the release of one day list. Soon after the
historic victory at Perth the team is full of
confidence and is brimming with self belief. The
team has to win the fourth test at Adelade. If
the team wins this test then we shall square up
the series and prove once for all that we are
equal to Australia and more than equal to
Kangaroos when it comes to play with ethics and
with morals. For the win at Adelade the team has
to play with all its might because bruised
Australia will play with more determination and
grit. For them a win means a victory in the
series and on the other side a win for us means
more than a victory. So all the members of the
team must not be mentally disturbed. With the
release of the list before the start of the
fourth test in which Ganguly and Dravid have been
excluded means that the selectors are not serious
about their future. Even in one day series to
beat Aussies with a young team is not easy.
Australians are a power packed team. For them we
need a team which is more experienced. Dravid and
Ganguly have now gauged the nature of wicket in
Australia. They know the conditions there. A
young player who has to be called in from India
to play in Australia will take time to get
settled there. And by that time we might loose
the crucial games. The selection committee must
rethink on their decision.

II
Sir,
Sourav Ganguly, a
class batsman and the best timer of the ball of
his era. About him, it is often said "On the
off side first there is God and then there is
Sourav Ganguly". The best captain of Indian
says "I dont believe in making correct
decisions. " I believe in making the
decisions and then making them correct,
this tells about the attitude of a winner that he
is. There isnt a man with greater grit,
self-belief, tenacity and indomitable spirit. It
is the quality of his mind and the strength of
his will that have powered the most remarkable
comeback in recent cricketing history. He has
more hunger for victory, vindication and
vengeance than anybody else.
But due to some
conspiracy he was dropped from Indian team. Its
really sad about a player of such a calibre. Its
about cutting a tree when it is mature to give
fruits of his experince. he was the person who
lead India to the worldcup final 2003. Such a
wrong decision will make Dhoni and his men to
repent for whole life.
Yours etc...
